  • Currently reading 'The $50 & up Underground House Book' by Mike Oehler. Pretty inspirational architecture and design, and some awesome theory to boot.

  • Reading Let the right one in by John Ajvide Lindqvist......it's soooooooooo slooooooooooooooow......but with a certain charm, like the film I guess

  • Recently started Player Piano by Kurt Vonnegut. A bit boring so far, quite slow moving but I still have high hopes.

  • If you like Vonnegut, and haven't read it, read Mother Night. It's sooo good damnit!

Never judge a book by its cover and all that, but that looks lovely!

  • im reading mr nice by howard marks

  • The book that I would I like to be reading,

The book that I am reading.

  • ^amazing book that one. I love it, wish I had a copy...

    Right now ploughing through this:

I will savage it eventually, but this is the second 500+er on the trot, which in hindsight was a mistake. The whiney Turkish brat is beginning to rile me a little.

  • Whats The Museum of Inocence like? Ive got a copy of Snow sitting in my bookcase that hasnt been touched since I got it for Christmas in 2001.

  • It's good, I'm nearly 400 pages down but it needs time...the pace does not reward slipping in and out of it. A friend recommended Museum to me but did say it was a bit of a slog. I hadn't read any of his stuff so I was keen to try it - also based wholly in Turkey which is a place/culture I know nothing about, so there is also a lot of cultural learning packed in too. (That's what I'm telling myself.)

  • Any Dick fans here? Starting Ubik for the third time this week

  • Prison Memoires of an Anarchist by Alexander Berkman.

    Fascinating and surprisingly relevant today.

Thanks to free books on Kindle.

  • Stupid Pony

The Tiger Who Came to Tea is, without a doubt, the greatest book for reading to young children. I recommend it to everyone whatever age.

  • ... The whiney Turkish brat is beginning to rile me a little.

Not a great fan of Palmuk no. Trying too hard methinks. Doesn't flow. And the humour is repeaty.

Really didnt enjoy The Man in the High Castle.

  • don't mind a bit of dick, and the author's quite good too..

a scanner darkly and flow my tears the policeman said stand out

in genre, have recently enjoyed mieville's the city & the city

  • Agreed. I love the Tiger

  • @cliveo & Eightball, I concur, although it pains me that he "drank all Daddy's beer".

  • Watching the English by Kate Fox. Some good insights into a strange and complex people...

It's a small step up from the classic Xenophobe Guides, which I quite enjoy.

  • If that's your cup of tea you should try reading The English: A Portrait of a People by Jeremy Paxman.
I found it far more enjoyable than Watching the English.

  • 'Life' - by Keith.

  • The Prodigy - Hesse. Enjoyable so far.

  • Any Dick fans here?

    Prolly..

There's so many nerds here these days I suppose many of them are into sci-fi, Monty Python and fire extinguisher-throwing... Yah?
