Anyone know what those brake levers are, I'm after something like these, ideally in ALLsilver. I don't think they're Tektro TL720s.
I think they're Dia Compe 188
http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-Dia-compe-Dia-Compe-188-Reverse-Action-Bar-End-Fitting-Brake-Levers-with-Black-Blade--Black-Clamp-52.htm
They come in with silver blades and black clamps too. If you want to strip the anodising, be warned that the blade pivot is riveted, so they're a bugger to separate, and the clamp is plastic so you're stuck with black whatever. These Soma levers are allegedly available in all silver

This seems pretty inoffensive to me.

...makes for a stable and comfortable ride. With 35c tyres on it, he obviously wasn't after a flicky track bike.

Saddle height is fucked but on the whole not too bad I suppose.

Saddle height is fucked
Old fashioned, maybe, but not necessarily fucked. In the olden days, people used to ride in the drops most of the time, and with no brake hoods he doesn't really have the option of riding the modern way with lots of saddle to bar drop and riding on the hoods all day. I'd need to see him actually riding it before concluding that it was wrong.

The fact they have a crosstop brake lever mounted suggests they spend most of their time on the tops.
You are right about the old fashioned part though, whenever I see old boys riding about on their 'classic' road bikes with super low saddles, they look very comfortable esp. in the drops.

This is probably a repost. It's trying way too hard in my opinion...

New wheels, saddle and bar tape and it could be lust.

I have no clue what's going on with these chainrings. He claims he rode this bike just like this for Raleigh. Not only that, but the shifters are backwards as well.
