Seatpost looks to past the isertion mark, and shimmed too. Stem also flirting with the safety line. Completely inapproprite tyre choice with respect to the original purpose of the frame, ditto the bars. No brake, despite the obvious intention to use it on the road. The bike is not fit for purpose, and not fitted to the rider. Oh, and the colorway suckz too.

I didn't see it there, I saw it posted in Porn, although I find the distinction pointless; are we only allowed to say nice things about current projects? What happens if somebody puts up something truly Pengy, without irony, in current projects; should we let them go outside unsupervised?

That would be a good thing; the porn thread is full of stuff which isn't really porn, it would be better if the quality control was a lot higher.

I'm with mitre_tester here.. Just because it's someone on the forum doesn't mean they should be in some way immune from criticism.

Especially since mostly all of this criticism comes down to personal taste (barring the insertion line stuff which is actually sensible and potentially stops an owner's frame from being damaged). If you like your bike then why should you care what others think about it? I certainly don't and wouldn't get angry or offended if I saw my bikes in here.

Didn't we have this a couple of weeks ago about someone else's bike? Personally I think it's a bit off to post a bike that someone here has put up in the projects page and slate it.

It's true that if you like your bike you shouldn't care about what other's say, but it's also true that if you like your bike enough to post its progress to an internet community, then it might smart a little if someone from that community takes it and slams it.

Anyway, my 2 cents, and know there are exceptions etc etc etc...

I hear what your saying (risers on a bike designed specifically to get you low, not my thing). But this is a fixie skidder bike forum after all. Half of us are riding around on the road on track bikes innit.

You would think so, but the fork crown looks like one of those ultra-skinny track only jobs which might take offence at being drilled.

It's anti-porn because there is a lot of good stuff there, but none of it really belongs together. With a nice paint job, the bull horns the bike was designed for, some appropriate racing tyres and a proper fit, it would approach porn status. That, to me, is the essence of anti porn.

On the other hand, crap which has no hope of redemption isn't anti because it isn't a good bike ruined, it's just a crap bike living up to its destiny. Obvioulsly, as with porn, the definition of anti porn is contested, so that's just my view of the applicable criteria.

My bike.

The seatpost *is *shimmed and about 1 cm past the max. insertion mark. This is a temporary measure until I get one appropriate.

The stem is fine. Just looks weird. But similar story to the seatpost (the insertion mark is absolutely fine)

The tyre choice is completely appropriate seeing as I use them for riding on the road. My tyre setup is perfect.

There is no brake because I like to ride my bike without a brake.

The bike is set up for the rider, I find it very comfortable.

The front rim is machined because I have had this wheelset from when I used to use a front brake. I simply haven't been able to build a new wheelset "appropriate" for the frame yet.

I tink it's important you read my response to mitre_tester's comments aswell.

I like the fades on that frame. I also love all the nutty Colnago steel frame fade stuff that used about seven different mismatched colours. I dig it. It is good. However, I hate almost all the "swoosh" flat graphics that seem to be the norm these days. I'm sure it's an age thing. There will probably be lots of people ten years younger than me that will love that stuff. What really matters is whether the bike as a whole is coherent, that it makes sense.

Which is why posting a work in progress in either Porn or Anti is a bit unfair, no?

@max - I have some lovely, period correct, Cinelli Tempo bull horns which would make that thing less of an abomination in the eyes of God :-)
