Seems excessive colour coding is deemed appropriate amongst mountain bikers...

that's harsh man, all you need to do is change the chain, chainring, cog, lockring, brakes, saddle, seatpost, toptube, downtube, seattube, seatstays, chainstays, spokes, hubs, rims, tyres, headset, grips, headtube, levers, bars, seatclamps, bolts, grease, stickers, spacers, cables, lights, pedals, cages, straps and you're set!

Its possible to 'excessively' colour code a mountain bike?
-
• #26955
Yes. When every available component is anodized to match - red hub, headset, spacers, seat clamp....
Red or gold coding seems to be pretty commonly bad for some reason

Took me a while to find this, but it's worth it

Needs white/red cranks.
8/10, could do better -
• #26959
Yep, - 1 for non red anodized discs.
and another neg for lack of colour coded brake levers...
poor effort indeed.

Ha!
Seen that one on the On-one website or something similar. Reminded me of a mates BMX, when we were silly kids, that did'nt know better than to use their BMXs as DH bikes, in the dartmoor valleys.
Cant hate it.

Back in the day it was allll about matching anodised bits, darling.
I don't know how fixed gear manages it, you don't see anything like as much anti in mountain biking
