I should also say that I'm not trying to defend the design of the Miche post. I think it looks ugly and poorly designed. Also I have Thomson stems and seatposts on both my bikes and I am totally convinced that they are the shiz.

What I was trying to say is that I should think they've both led a harder life than they were dsigned for.

No way on earth I am going to read the whole of that thread to try and determine why that post failed but it's fair to say, I am now very concerned by the slight mark my torque wrench has made on the surface of my seatpost, pretty much exactly where that one failed.

there was some stuff about it might have been overtightened, or it might have snapped where it did because thats where the saddle bag attached.
That forum is so hard to read, worse than bikeradar, so many idiots.

My miche supertype failed during a sprint final at hhv in the last 50m, i didnt win because of it
