Still on small wheelers, embarrassingly I actually own one of these, great to ride with the 451x26 tyres and dual suspension, but decidedly fugly:

Small wheel+high pressure tyres+rigid frame=bone shaking ride

Not entirely, that bike got enough clearance for bigger tyres.

Then it will be slow. The original quality small wheeler came with suspension and narrow, high pressure tyres, which enabled high performance and comfort at the same time. Then cheaper copies came along without suspension and with fatter tyres and ended up putting most people off the idea for anything other than folding purposes. -

but if you want a better handling tire for road racing and crits, go wider – particularly for rough road surfaces.
Been there, done that and got the t-shirt and cheap hooker.

"Wider tires roll faster than narrower ones: Riders have argued for years that narrower tires – especially on the road – roll faster and are more efficient than wider ones when in fact, the opposite is true. According to Wheel Energy, the key to reducing rolling resistance is minimizing the energy lost to casing deformation, not minimizing how much tread is in contact with the ground. All other factors being equal, wider casings exhibit less 'bulge' as a percentage of their cross-section and also have a shorter section of deflected sidewall."

Haha yeah, that bit from D&D is scarily accurate though, everyones felt like that.
Back on topic, they could have at least got a gold coloured chain and lockring, even if it was anodized!

Wow this has really opened up my eyes, I too was mislead to believe skinnier tyres are faster. The experiences I have with them must be a combination of placebo and imagination. I will go out and buy Fat Franks in the morning, I'll be so fast!
That article lost all its credibility in one line. Maybe they should focus more on factual information and less on controversy or having some kind of scoop. Not any tyre that's 1mm skinnier than any other is necessarily faster, but if the opposite is true like the article says, why don't they ride fat tyres in the Tour?
Bollocks article.

well theres a lot of factors, more than just how wide the tire is
rebadged peugeot methinks
