Paging mdcc_tester - fcuking cranks with holes in, how do they work?
They don't, or at least they don't work as well as ones with the hollow centre forged in place rather than drilled. Rotor are a small company without access to the very high tech (and extremely capital intensive) forging capacity of Shimano, and that swiss-cheese crank is their attempt to achieve with cheap tools what Shimano achieve with expensive ones in terms of stiffness and weight. The process is not only inferior in terms of results, but also highly labour and time intensive, so they make a worse crank than DuraAce which is nonetheless more expensive, and would still be more expensive even if they made them in the same numbers as Shimano.

What I was thinking, can't imagine them being reet stiff.

• #14308
would be stiffer than solid plastic though wouldn't they?
-
• #14309
That would depend on what and how much fibre was in the plastic.

A URT TT bike... why?
Maybe for Leeds roads....
what does URT stand for? Also, isn't that one of the "S" road series?

I know that the porn topic isn't about hot girls and the antiporn topic probably shouldn't be about ugly dudes but come on, are they serious? Ha at least they don't make a secret of their target market.

URT stands for unified rear triangle, a suspension design where the entire drive train is mounted on the swingarm. This means it stiffens when you stand up, and eliminates chain tension issues.
It's a pretty dated design like, the rest of the world has moved on.

Paris Roubaix special I think, an experiment to see if it make any difference.
-
• #14320
really? i'm surprised they allowed it.
-
• #14321
The Paris Roubaix is notorious for not quite having the smoothest road, have a butcher;
In the end they realise a normal road bike with bigger tyres (27c+) would be enough for such stage.
-
• #14322
nice bar ends on those drops there..
-
• #14323
I know that i'm surprised that they allowed full suspension, the uci are normally very strict about a people have unfair advantages. i"m assuming the UCI governs the Paris Roubaix am I wrong?

They didn't think to ban it until after people had tried it; the UCI are stupid, so it never occurred to them in the 70 or so years between full suspension proving dominant in motorcycle road racing and the first suspended P-R bikes of the modern era that somebody might try it.
