Are those the pedals on the front wheel? I'd love to attempt a track stand on it.

I'm sorry, but are SPD sandals really news to you?
-
• #12746
Yep. Blissfully unaware of their existence.

They're full of win than fail.
-
• #12748
As in "see you at the local christian youth convention discotheque" type of win?
I just see twitchers on dutch bikes with added sock.

You're right: SPD sandals are no porn. Certainly not when combined with socks.
But they can be very convenient during summer holidays. I used to have 2 pairs, but I seriously regret that I dumped them. If you can bring just one bike and you go out with the family (beach, town, terrasse, restaurant), SPD sandals are the best alternative. Sneakers, racing shoes, MTB shoes are all shit then.Once I was passed by an old gentleman on a climb in a road event (cyclosportif). I was in full race gear incl bike. He was on a race bike and was wearing SPD sandals.
Not good for my "moral".
Since then I know better than ever: it's all about the legs... -

Alright, i'll meet you halfway at 'functional'... and only because you were passed by an aged fellow with giant legs.
Looks better with drops and a front Lightweight.
