If we're talking 'best of the high st', I reccon Maccie D clinches the crown. Nothing special mind, but costs half as much as everywhere else.
Though I still have a soft spot for Krispy Kreme's Americano.

I've had acceptable lattes in both Nero and Costa. I've also had appalling ones from both.
Depends on the barista.
Well sure the same is true for independent coffee shops if you find a hungover barista.
So the question is on average which of the big three make you an 'acceptable' coffee.
I like nero.. followed by starbucks. -

I'm drinking a fairly nice white coffee from Gregg's right now. It's consistency like this that brings me back, time after time. That and their cracking bacon roll deal.
Can anyone tell me why my fluffy milk 'fell' within moments this morning, weird, not happened before. Lactose free but normal low fat aside from that.

Greggs is for pies only...or yumyums.

Did anything happen here with Mc Donalds getting proper coffee machines?
I remember reading about a plan to give every one a La Mazocoo machine and trained staff, a couple of years ago. Was in NZ at the time and actually had a passable coffee (admittedly black, so easy ish), and that was probably the last time I was in a McD'sIf we're talking 'best of the high st', I reccon Maccie D clinches the crown. Don't Mcdonalds have an all in one machine, so not much to go wrong? Also they have enough through fare to keep things moving.

Mcdonalds coffee is fairly horrible.. whoever you get to press the button.

Quick poll of the three major franchised coffee stores, who makes the best coffee?
Starbucks?
Costa?
Nero?Doubt anyone on here has been to the three of those ^ recently to give you a fair appraisal.
.I had a macchiato from a Costa franchise in a Tesco's last week. I knew it would be shit (and I could of had a tea to stave off the headaches) but thought lets see..............it was shit.

Bean quality is still likely to be better at an independent IMO though.
Starbucks isn't called "Charbucks" for nothing. -

I'm looking to sell this Gaggia Classic as I have four machines in the flat, and I need to reduce this number to one.

This is a pre-Philips model (with superior 3-way solenoid) and has had the OPV adjusted to 9 Bar. Finish is chrome, and there is some surface corrosion under the drip tray, but nothing much to worry about. Includes portafilter with double and single baskets. It's an older machine, but I have descaled it, and just poured a decent shot from it.
Is £70 a decent enough price for any beginners?
Collection only on Hackney Road. Bus stop outside 55/26/48 and not far from Bethnal Green and Old Street tube.

Nnnnghhh have to resist the temptation to upgrade! Can't imagine anyone would have any worries, but Rod is an ace guy, the machine I bought from him hasn't missed a step. GLWS

Opened a freshly roasted (yesterday) bag of the new red brick. Didnt change grind from previous bag of last batch (pre-xmas bag) but got a decent shot.
Much more like it used to be about 14 months ago, big caramel/toffee flavour and smoothness with milk. Looking forward to tomorrow so i can give it another go.

I like nero.. followed by starbucks.they're all equally shit, it's just a matter of which is closest to you at the time.
And how much self respect you have.

Good coffee shops near Trafalgar square folks?
I know that's tourist central, so all the big name shitkickers are in the vicinity, but are there any decent independents closer than soho-way?
