Anyone want a Rancilio S24? It's about the size of a London flat.

yup... for example 100 EMPTY CAPSULES FOR NESPRESSO MACHINES: Amazon.co.uk: Kitchen & Home
I tried it the other day but didn't damp it down and got brown water... Weekend for some extensive testing

I'm interested in the whole nespresso thing as I've a couple of mates who say they're excellent (I've not yet tasted nespresso) and I'd imagine that many on this thread would suggest that they are the corporate devil's spawn. I use a stovetop and microwaved milk frothed up in a bodum thing, it's nice enough, but I'm obviously a heathen.
Just interested to know how it stands up in a proper side-by-side test

All the tests I've read about say nespresso wins for consistency and taste on a regular basis. Those refillable capsules answer the question I would have had - seems most people aren't concerned about the huge amount of waste they must create every time, but then I guess coffee is far from environmentally friendly at the best of times...

there was a tasting pack with the machine and some of the flavours were actually very good
Also means Mrs Pun can have 'fresh' decaf as she's not allowed to contaminate my grinder

they are OK. A modest setup at home and a bit of effort will produce much better results though.

After a discussion at Andrews drinks last monday a Harris & Hoole android app was mentioned.. but looking on the website it seems to be currently in closed beta.
Anyone know where I might find the .apk?
I only care because apparently it comes with 'free' coffee - I find this type tastes best. -

Talk to me about Geisha coffee, I'm drinking my first ever cup of it at the moment (filter).
It is quite nice, but don't think my coffee palette is developed enough to fully appreciate it's cost :D

Who roasted it and how are you brewing it? It's mostly expensive because it's rare, not because it'll necessarily blow your mind. Although roasted and brewed nicely it should be delicious. I've only had one amongst a cupping, think it was by Kappa or someone who also had some Esmerelda last year... Really remember the bergamot, it was up there with the best Yirgacheffes.
It's supposed to be called Gesha because that's where it's from, but the word has evolved to Geisha because it sounds fucking fancy. There's a name for words that have changed like this, anyone help me out?

Just back from Sicily. Brought back 2.5Kg of various beans. I think I can appreciate darker roasts better now.

Bizarrely I'm in Taiwan and it was from here http://www.mojocoffee.com.tw/
I haven't spent too much time drinking filter coffees, so it is hard for me to bench mark it.
They always have around 5 different choices of filter coffee on offer here, so I will start to experiment a bit more rather than being a newbie flat white / latte man.

Was around Brick Lane yesterday so popped in to Nude and got a bag of Kenyan Gatomboya for my aeropress, complete with an excellent flat white.
The beans are superb, really light, fruity and fresh. Linda starts off tasting of berries, then goes to citrus. Want to just keep drinking it.
The bag and the drink were £9, which is a pretty good deal I reckon, given many bags of beans are over £10 a pop

What size bag? £6/250g is as high as I'd go unless it's very special

Did you visit the exploding mountain?

£3 for 250g at Booths for a Kenyan Peaberry not bad value for putting through the aeropress...

To me coffee is a treat, I'm happy to pay £8, £10 for something great, direct trade, farmers getting paid well over Fairtrade minimum... Don't really spend much on anything else though. Would knock off a couple of pints a week if it meant I could afford better coffee.
that is a very good call
