Similar to the fab looking keepcups my sister bought me a couple of "i'm not a paper cup" mugs from the Lock and Lock Eco life range. They're great as the aeropress fits perfect.
not sure what they retail at here, looks like she paid 258 vnd each (vietnam) as she left the price on.
edit 13 quid here http://www.nigelsecostore.com/acatalog/I_m_Not_a_Paper_Cup.html

Just shows you that not all Aussies are lazy beer drinking bums.
I was thinking about becoming an Aussie for the Olympics, but just realised there might be some cricket on at the same time.

I'd get you honorary membership to the club RPM.. after finishing off that burger of course.

What's yours is mine, mate. You know that.

Faema legend you say? Very nice, is it for home use?
I know it is a little bit too much for home use but it was found in a skip in terrible state. I did most of the work myself, boiler and all the piping is being saved by pro service guys, new bits (levers, knobs, group heads, steamer wand... and so on) bought already, last thing to do will be polish the whole case to bring it back to it's original glory and put it all together.
anyone keen for that X7 before goes to ebay?

Sweet, be good to see some pics when it's done. I enjoy a resto project myself.

I will try to borrow some decent camera for a build and post some pictures.

I could do with a recommendation actually- not car but coffee machine, as when I put the kitchen in I'd like to put in a plumbed in machine.
What's a decent mix of price and performance, and critically can be picked up second hand for peanuts?
You can plumb in a domestic machine by connecting a water line to the inlet side of the vibe pump (check the inlet pressure rating) and hacking a drain into the drip tray, but it'll still be a bit, well, domestic, unless you're shelling out decent money.
Go for a commercial 1-group off ebay, you should get a non runner for less than £200. Check for availability of parts before you bid and avoid obscure manufacturers. 99% of these machines just need a strip-down descale (piece of piss) and a fresh set of seals and gaskets to get it functionally good as new.

Brave, is that your Vivaldi on ebay?

So as long as I stick to the usual suspects (Gaggia, Faema, Saeco, Rancilio?) I should be ok?
My Gaggia Factory 106 is probably the least "plumb-in-able" coffee machine out there!

I just realised that I've almost gone through a kilo of Algerian Coffee Shop's Santos in the last two weeks. So I'm getting my first hasbean delivery today - the espresso starter pack - to get an idea of where to start.

Hah- when I was working from home after my foot operation the electricity bill went up dramatically due to leaving the coffee machine on, and I got through a kilo of Monmouth beans in ~7 days.

Been limiting myself to two double shots in the AM. Off to make the second one now then off to physio.

^^^ & ^^ foook.... I'm on 750g coffee a MONTH and that includes about 1/3 being drunk by the GF.

In other news, I emptied my shrapnel jars last night, now got £175 to bank. Would this get me much of a proper machine to play with over and above the aeropress which keeps me in coffee wonderland each morning?
If not, how much more loose change should I be looking for?
-
• #4244
If you are so happy with the aeropress then why get a machine? What will the machine give you that the aeropress would not?
-
• #4245
^ actual espresso rather than "americano" style coffee? A Kitchen appliance to play with? Will fulfil the need for something to sit on the kitchen worktop gathering dust in the designated microwave space?
All of the above.

It'll easy get you a 2nd hand classic. I would!

get a grinder first
-
• #4248
^ Good point. I've a very basic Krups Burr grinder which gets shocking reviews but makes beans into grinds so content at the moment. I'd prefer a machine over upgraded grinder right now though, grinder upgrade would no doubt follow later on.
^^ sounds good.

• #4249
Nah, getting a machine without a decent grinder will lead to much frustration and upgradeitis. Get a good grinder and your brewed coffee will be unimaginably better. Stand on me.

Even the hario hand grinder? I was going to get one fo't'road
Shame but worth the punt. These retail for around £30 a piece!
Keepcups look like they're full of win. Nifty gadget.
