Switch back to spouts?
-
• #23579
Were you happy with the coffee before you switched?
-
• #23580
Happy enough, but the extra room in the bottomless one has been an improvement. So ideally I’d solve the mess rather than switch back

Nice! Fun packaging too. I just ordered their Colombia double set, excited to try this thermal shock process.

I'm at the in-laws for the holidays and they've always had a bean to cup machine so I absolutely cane through coffee whilst I'm here. It's just too easy having it on tap, especially when you start flagging between bottles of wine.

My uncle has one but even when I put good beans into it it ends up tasting like crap. It infuriates him when I tell him it tastes like shit despite the Delonghi or whatever costing him £700

I'm at the in-laws for the holidays...
... and I'm drinking Lavazza from a a cafetiere. The silt, the silt.

Surely at least an Aeropress + Porlex is minimum standard issue for visits to the in-laws'.
-
• #23586
You joke but we're taking an electric grinder, an espresso machine and a bag of beans!

I hope you're travelling by land at least!
Can only imagine the airport x-ray scanner folks seeing a La Pavoni pop up on the machine.
Though taking a Porlex through Belfast airport certainly raises a few eyebrows (and possible heart-rates...)

Life’s too short to drink bad coffee (at the in-laws over Christmas).
And then there’s the issue that if you’re known as the family coffee person, you’re probably going to be given a load of coffee you don’t want (I am aware this makes me sound like an ungrateful brat). Still, always handy to keep in the cupboard for emergencies.

Thankfully my in-laws are perfectly aware of the quality gap (aside from seeing their granddaughter, their favourite thing about visiting us is the coffee they get made).

I know, it's all classic French dark roast over here but I still enjoy it, goes well with all the pain d'épice my mother in law bangs out over the holidays.
Plus, I can't get into trying to make 'good' coffee whenever I go away, fuck all that faff.

family coffee person
Bang on about it until they all realise that they either don't bother to buy anything coffee related for you or if they do, they always ask what you want first... #askmehowiknow

I brought the stovetop with me and ground enough coffee to last out the visit. Would recommend.
-
• #23593
That would certainly be the most painless path for me as I’m not an Aeropress owner, though a french press would be even easier.
