  • i want to flog my dualit grinder, if anyone is looking for one.

    Why, is it shit?

nope - found a different one.

    £40?

  • No thanks.

  • stopped off to buy some ground square mile from the espresso room for my gaggia but they ground it for cafetiere. i presume you can't put the coffee back through the grinder for an espresso grind?

  • Take it back and ask them to provide what you asked/paid an extortionate amount for?

  • Not tried but I doubt it. It'll just clog the burrs. You can use cafetiere coffee in the machine it'll just blast through too quick. You could always use it in a cafetiere :)

  • Bodium cafetieres are 25% off at Sainsburys at the minute if anyone is after one.

  • Take it back and ask them to provide what you asked/paid an extortionate amount for?

they are going to give me a bag of house stuff out of their grinder. there was no problem. i wasn't arsey with them (no point) the owner is a nice chap and very apologetic.

we only argued over me paying as i was happy to take the coarse stuff my cafatiere and buy a new bag for the espresso but they insisted on me not paying.

i really need to sort my own grinder out :-)

  • i have one for sale, gary.

  • what is it? 2 millstones and a water wheel?

  • i'm after a.. actually i forgot the name it's about £125 just not got round to buying it as there is always something else more important to buy at the mo.

  • so having purchased Rustys gaggia classic what is the plastic cone shaped thing with orange crystals for? is it a fiter for the water tank or is it something for cleaning?

(thought i would ask here instead of rustys ad as it bumps the coffee thread)

  • Sounds like an descaling catridge. They're on the end of the intake hose in the water tank.

"Descaling chemical for pour over tank model semi automatic espresso machines. Connect the cartridge to the end of water intake tube and leave submerged in the water tank. Use for Saeco, Gaggia, LaPavoni, Rancilio, Giotto, Bricolatta, Stella, Oscar and other semi automatic home espresso machines. It effectively filters minerals in water and protects from calcium build up and saves expensive repairs. Easy to replace. One cartridge good for 1200 shots of espresso. Adjust volume of water used for priming the machine, steaming milk, rinsing cups, using hot water for tea, hot chocolate and other purposes. Order new cartridge after serving 1000 espresso (allows producing 200 more shots of espresso while the new cartridge is ordered) or every 9 months."

  • that's the fella (rusty did pm me with the details)
funny how the coffee tastes a bit different from the new machine, slightly different temperature/bar i guess.

what were those those beans like i gave you and Scarlett? i guess they were a bit crap?

  • I thought they were quite nice.

  • Could go in epic win...

  • ...just got back from rome... oh my god...

Found this baby in a place called panella, amazing bakery.
    oh boy.

  • ^Jesus, that's a whoppa.

I'm opening up in Northampton on Saturdays from 25th September serving espresso from the lever machine and filter coffee, roasted by me at Monmouth during the week.

Cuckooing at Retropolitain and The Death Rooms, 20 St Michaels Road.

  • Only 5 hours or so to cycle up there.. better be good coffee :0)

I helped fix the automatic machine they were using at the Polish festival in Ealing. Who'd have thought you need to manually empty the spent coffee pucks? :)

  • Does anyone know where I can get spare parts for a rancilio rocky?

Someone just dropped mine and the plastic hoppers are smashed.

  • Happy Donkey might do them. Otherwise, I'd suggest this wonderful little site you're so keen to tell other people about called, hmm, let me see, google.com..

  • that coffee place on charing cross road has one of those whoppers.
never been in for a shot though.

  • Just bought a Bialetti today, been playing around with it most of the afternoon. Third or fourth brew was actually pretty good. Seems that a decent grinder could be pricey, so will be buying fine-ground beans from this decent cafe in town for a while. Quite fancy a Bodum milk frother for some morning cappuccinos though.

  • get a zassenhaus from ebay.de, mine was 17 bob with shipping, well worth it

  • Cheers for the happy donkey suggestion, they did not show up in the first couple of pages on google.

Had already contacted coffee italia who I got the machine from.

I looks like I should be able to Install the hoppers myself if I can get the spares.
