Popular in Valencia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spain in a 1:1 ratio. The condensed milk is added to the espresso. For visual effect, a glass is used, and the condensed milk is added slowly to sink underneath the coffee and create two separate bands of contrasting colour - though these layers are customarily stirred together before consumption. Some establishments merely serve an espresso with a sachet of condensed milk for patrons to make themselves.

I had a flat white from the dudes with the coffee cart on White Cross St yesterday. By far the best brew I've had in the UK.

the best coffees i have ever had are from the monmouth st branch of monmouth. better than the market shop. dunno if it's because they have not been busy and they can take their time or just better staff?
to paraphrase sir michael of winner:
I had a historic macchiato in monmouth st coffee shop that will linger in my memory for an age. -

Hippy.. I'm sure you'll like Bombom. It is, for me, the perfect hit of sweet, strong coffe.
MrSmyth. Monmouth on Monmouth. Agree. Tops. But I have to say ,IMHO, that all be it expensive the coffee in Flat whit (and Milk bar) is sublime.

is it condensed milk or evaporated milk
going to pop to shops to give this a burly…

condensed milk BDW. I tend to pour it in first and then the coffee on top. Stir. Drink.. And, probably, just me, get a "nom, nom, nom" feeling...

Oh, I advise not to go 1 to 1.. Bit too sweet. 1 part condensed milk to 2 part strong espresso I reckon.

We got a Gaggia Classic, which we have had for a couple of years. It works reliably, even if it feels a little under-powered.
We were getting our coffee ground for us, but the grind was so unreliable that we would sometimes get blocked group head (no liquid coming out at all) or instant blonding (liquid coming out too quickly) for the same dose and tamp. So we now have an Ascaso mini. The only drawback of the Ascaso is that the dose is a bit hit & miss. Otherwise great coffee every single time.

Iced coffee with condensed milk is also worth a try if you've never had it.

I have one, but using it would be more hassle than figuring it out at the point of tamping. The Ascaso we have looks like this and the button in the middle how you activate the grinder. Pushing the portafilter against the button works best. Any other receptacle (like the doser that came with the Classic) is not particularly satisfactory.

Must try super new bomb coffee thing. That's it. They do it all over S-E Asia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia all serve it very similar.
Cafe Bon Bon is good as well, add some rum for a bit of a kick.... -

No, it's not on a timer. It's really basic, but it grinds and it fits in our kitchen.
Weigh the portafilter before and after? Brilliant.

I use a spare basket to scoop up the beans and dump a double's worth into the grinder.
Never weighed 'em to be honest (how very unscientific of me) but at least it's pretty consistent amount.

^ So glad you said that hippy.. I was feeling very amateur. 4 scoops of beans in my grinder fill the stove top perfect..
