He's just such a fucking middle class media type, reminds me of a few dickhead journalists I had the misfortune of working with...
I'm sure he's lovely...

He genuinely is lovely and very much a coffee guy through and through. Just happens that he articulates well which has enabled
him to build a high profile over his nearly 20 years in the industry. Having that and not using it as a marketing tool would be silly wouldn’t it? -

I met him years ago at a Square Mile tasting I think, with @big_daddy_wayne. He seemed pretty genuine and enthusiastic. TS is just jealous of his hair...

His hair looks Tsunami dangerous.

indeed

I really enjoy his videos. I am still considering subbing to his Patreon. Which I have not considered doing for any other content creator anywhere.

Help! Which pressure gauge for Gaggia Classic? Standard Portafilter.
Don't really want to make one - would ideally just like to bolt one on and test periodically.
-
• #16585
I might have one at home.
-
• #16586
It's a Happy Donkey one, whatever
"HD0104 COFFEE MACHINE PRESSURE CHECK GAUGE" is.probably something like this one, that you bolt onto the bottom of the portafilter

Following up on https://www.lfgss.com/comments/14930323/ I went with the Rocket Faustino and it's doing very well. It grinds consistent to 0.1g and is able to make tiny adjustments to hone a brew. Pulling consistent, tidy, portaless shots once dialed.
Incidentally these are made my and based on Eureka's silencio, but with the interface of the Specialita. As a result I dont think the price point, for the basic models at least, is that off.

My chum at work just returned from Ethiopia and brought me this in his suitcase because he’s a super nice guy and had noticed me making pour over in the kitchen. It is absolutely yummy.

Anyone know of a coffee shop where you get a free cuppa when you buy some beans? (Preferably SE London)
-
• #16590
SE London - For roasteries you have Old Spike in Peckham and Volcano coffee in Norwood but there are probably others that I don't know. I was not a fan of the Old Spike coffee nor of the in shop experience. Volcano stuff was nice and the shop is lovely, but it's a bit far for me.
I do not think I have ever seen anyplace that does a free drink when you buy beans though.

I've seen discounts, but never free.

Taylor St. did, though I'm not sure if they've fully been taken over by Black Sheep or not at this point. Though I recall reading that the stores that remained Taylor St. branded, were using the same cheap beans that Black Sheep use in their other stores, but in Taylor St. branded bags. So probably best to stay clear regardless.
Bit of a pointless reply in the end...

Never! .... today no time for Yirgacheffe in the morning, two Monmouth during the day.

Spar in Walthamstow Village were doing a free coffee with a bag of Perky Blenders beans.
I realise that geographically, this is of no use to you.

Lidl have bodum gooseneck kettles on for £30 - not sure if any good but seems decent value

Any Dept of Coffee & Social Affairs, or at least they used to - been a while.

I’ve had quite a few good espressos at Coleman coffee roasters near Waterloo. No harm in asking for a coffee as a sample when buying a bag I guess :)

Also heard of Dark fluid in brockley, but have never been
-

I seem to remember Host Café in EC4 gives you a coffee for free when you buy beans. Not really SE, sorry. It’s a nice place in its own right as well!

Defo no Taylor Street left, all Black Sheep now.
Is it because he drives a Tesla? That is pretty unforgivable tbh.
