  • Yeah the first one! Accidentally arriving at something profound - there must be a word for that, probably in German.

  • Any recommendations for coffee shops in Brighton, am heading to the lanes and haven’t had any coffee yet..

  • Bold Street Coffee is my personal fav, small batch is always good too though

  • I'm sure you've found somewhere by now but Small Batch on Jubilee a safe bet. Big site and decent location. Very solid coffee but service is intermittent. Can sometimes be waiting daft amounts and then get the wrong drink depending who's on. But they're also good roasters so an opportunity to buy some decent local beans.

Presume @Drano meant Bond Street Coffee which is run by one of the guys who used to work at Coffee at 33 (Trafalgar Street and also very good). Decent. Nice place but gets a bit steamy so I tend to default to the roomier Small Batch. Bond Street use Horsham beans.

If you fancy a vegan donut with your coffee try Glazed down by the Level. Nice kids run it. Bit ramshackle but good espresso and they're very friendly in a stoned kind of way and their donuts are legit delicious.

  • Bond Street, that's the one. Cheers!

  • Thanks for the recommendations, 1st long excursion with Blackfoot Jnr and we’re standing on the platform at Clapham Junction so you’re in with time to spare..

  • I don't know if this will work...but here's a link to a Google map list of coffee spots and you can zoom in on Brighton.

I'd recommend both Small Batch's (the one out of town for something quieter) and Coffee33 is worth the walk.

  • Just about to pull the trigger on my upgraded home coffee setup and to say I'm excited would be an understatement!

Rocket Espresso Appartamento + Baratza Sette 270W

(Previous setup was Gaggia Classic and Fiorenzato F5)

  • Enjoy! Long excursions are fun. For a while : ) We just got back from a walk in the Downs with ours and it was exhausting. An hour walk quickly turned into all morning.

  • Another shout out for StevePeel and Yellow Bourbon Coffee Roasters, latest order just landed at work and is going down well.

  • Had the new Peru delivered by the postman today and it is really nice.

    Top work @StevePeel

  • @CYOA, @Drano, had a lovely post train coffee, and glad for a recommendation, there’s a lot of choice on the walk down from the station..

  • Glazed is a strong reccomendation.

    https://www.pharmacie.coffee/coffeehouse-roastery/ also work a look.

  • Pharmacie guys are great - former Ground team recruited by their mutual owner Rick. I would always recommend Ground to Brighton visitors but the far end of Kemptown is a bit of a trek. Though they have a new branch in 7 Dials which I guess is relatively close to the station. It's still a bit remote though unless you're going there for something specific. Back to Pharmacie - Carola and Jon are champions. I find their roasts in general to be a bit light for my personal pref but they know what they're doing and I'll still get through a few bags a month. Incidentally they thought highly of Yellow Bourbon after I brought some in to them.

  • Is there a KeepCup equivalent that is neither glass nor plastic?

Guessing stainless steel, will be for cold drinks only but reckon you're most likely the folks in the know.

  • Starbucks do/did a double walled stainless sippy cup for cold drinks iirc (had a metal straw too)

Alternatively travel mugs come in double walled metal but have a rubber-ish grip, if that helps?

  • And @NurseHolliday, thanks both, glad you’re enjoying the coffee.

  • Kleen kanteen do a stainless steel tumbler in a few sizes. It has a plastic lid though. They do a bottle with a screw top and bamboo lid which I think has an insulated version if you're trying to be completely plastic free.

  • Picked up one of these locally today.

    https://elephantbox.co.uk/products/water-bottle

Nice but a bit pricey.... fits in bottle cage too though and meets all other requirements.

  • I have a Klean Kanteen with a bamboo lid - no plastic in sight!

cc @rhb though a bit late after today. TBH the KK looks just like that but just has a metal and bamboo lid. I'd also say it's more expensive than the Elephant Box if I recall.

  • Except the little plastic/rubber seal? I have that one too, and I love it.

  • Foiled! Didn't even spot that and had to check to see if it was real.

  • Ta, i was close to buying that kk one online, but saw this today. Also has small amount of plastic for lid seal (pictured).
