Ah you must've been around today, I left the stand about 11am after everything was setup. What an interesting machine that is. Are you about tomorrow? I should say hi properly!

Ah thanks for this! Now I'm worried that the Amazon ones aren't recyclable or couldn't be in one of the britta ones. I'll do some googling.

Up on the top.floor, at the UKBC stage. I'll be on the mic.

"Paid to go with a friend about 2 years ago, complete waste of money (even at half price), way too many people crammed in to make it enjoyable. The folks at Square Mile are celebrating their 10th year so might do something interesting as part of the festival."
Completely agree. Went a few years back and didn't enjoy it one bit. Queues everywhere, too many people in there and too hot. Just wanted to walk around and get out

Over easter I found half a dozen or so bags of S.O.'s i'd been using for v60 then moved on and never finished so half empty. Chucked them all in my hopper and despite age of beans once dialled in they made a good espresso, working v.well with milk. Sadly I've just ground & brewed the last of it, the blend is gone forever. Went to the coffee fest yesterday, enjoyed it more than last year, wasn't as insanely hot and not quite as crowded. (I was on an industry freebie though, I still refuse to pay for a trade day!) Realised the same thing I realise every year, that I'm really not interested in 90% of the stuff there. Always go, as there are heaps of people I want to see and chat to, but wasn't really wowed by anything.
Got a sweet party bag from Square Mile, drank a very very tasty beverage from Coffee Collective, drank some tasty stuff from Minor Figures, heckled some peeps & picked up a bunch of pin badges and stickers.
Fav spot of the day was the Hasbean pop-up though, and you don't need a festival ticket for it as it's on Commercial Street. If you're in the area, check it out for sure. Look for the red balloon! It's just outside the church? Also, Brooklyn Coffee had some banging Tanzanian espresso.

Also, I really really really hate that fucking Leva. Sooooooooo ugly! Although so many new pieces of coffee tech are pretty ugly now, I'm sure they are wonderful but I just wouldn't want to stand there all day looking at it 😂

I’m in mourning. My faithful 15 year old gaggia Classic has died.
It was on this morning, heating up as usual, when suddenly steam started coming through the group head. It wasn’t switched to steam mode, but it’s as though it’s defaulting to steam.
I have a vague recollection of someone having the same issue a while back. Ring any bells?

Maybe the steam mode switch is faulty? One way to validate this would to take the switch out entirely I guess.

I did wonder about that, but fear it may beyond my considerable lack of diy ability.

The experiment continues...
My little homemade jobbie from about 15 years ago burns more efficiently than the Trangia, and the bonus is that the bloom happens much quicker as well. That's a drawback I've noticed with the stand I made; it seems to delay the sweet flame moment.

I'm old enough...
It's a tomato paste can, thank you very much, and it will be used in and along the way to Utah shortly. -

Moab? Or LDS?

Canyonlands and Arches; I've only ever touched on Utah up at 4 Corners, so this will certainly be a journey of discovery.

Given your username it could have been a work trip.
Arches sounds amazing and the 4 corners are high on my bucket list thanks to Tony Hillerman. Yá’át’ééh.

This is ace. I use bulldog clips as a stand, as per pic (pre bloom)
Silly question Where'd you get brass & is it a bugger to cut & drill?

I seem to remember Bristol coffee shop recommendations but can't find it. Anyone know a good one?
I seem to remember that there's someone on the forum with a cafe? I might have gotten muddled up though.
I managed 2 hours and this is the quiet day. I saw some folk I wanted to chat to, drank a lot of sour espresso and saw the Marzocco Leva. Now in that pub on the corner of Hanbury St and Commercial Rd.
