Don't suppose anyone has any recommendations for any keenly priced coffee? (ie <£5 /250g)
Medium roast, sweet not sour.
I've finally finished my epic supply of cheap Lavazza and was after something nice, but not (£9/250g) pricey.
Cheers.

Mentioned upthread but Union bags of beans are £4/200g in Waitrose at the moment. Bright Note is the medium roast, bag I got was roasted less than 4 weeks ago

Rave coffee are my go to. Have to buy in bulk to save on postage but they have a decent array at the prices you're talking about.

Recently cancelled my Pact order, got fed up of the amount of packaging waste and promotional material I was binning each order, and getting the same coffee three times in a row.
Can anyone recommend somewhere I can buy good beans/bagged coffee in South East London, would prefer to collect rather than order online.
Want to start grinding too, anything I should be looking at beyond Porlex for a hand grinder?

I just pinged them an email saying don't send me any of the promotional bumpf, and now just get the beans I've selected...

Whereabouts SE? Art & Craft in West Norwood do, as well as a butt load of awesome beer, 1kg bags of Chimney Fire beans for £21
They had four different roasts when I was in last but I just went for the Espresso Blend. Seems great so far.
I have a porlex mini but got fed up of spending as much time grinding as I did drinking so recently got a Delonghi electric burr grinder from John Lewis. Less than £40 and you just set the volume and grind setting, press a button and crack on with the other stuff while it grinds the beans and stops automatically. Need to play with the settings as the number of cups in no way relates (for me anyway) to how much ground coffee you get.

M&S have decent enough coffee for £2–4 a bag. More choice for ground coffee, but it does the trick.
I'm getting seriously bored of it though, would love to know a roastery that does 250g for £5 that I can pick up on my commute (SE8 to SW9).

I'm in Lewisham, but work in Forest Hill so Norwood would work, will check it out thanks. I feel like cycling to a shop and talking with humans rather than getting stuff delivered to my desk is the way to go.
I drink most stuff at work, so I don't imagine people would thank me for an electric grinder in the office, is the hand grinder a massive effort?

The mini looks ideal

The dude didn't really have much to say about it but I was in buying a load of beer so grabbed a bag.
Hand grinding is fine for the odd cup, but a few cups or a cafetiere on a weekend morning were starting to be a pain in the arse, for me.

I was in buying a load of beer
I think this will need to be a post payday visit!

Yeah, never cheap. But they do have a loyalty card. No idea what I get out of it but I'm two stamps away from a full card.

Volcano Coffee in Norwood. Very nice.
There is Spike Roastery over by Peckham Rye. Not tried that yet.

With Jam and Bread on Lee high Road sell Volcano coffee, Waiting Room Deptford High St sell Union beans when I was last there.

I normally get beans from pact at home but, I'd like to know, what are the best supermarket beans? Currently colleagues are getting coffee from Lidl and it is rank and I'd like to improve the shared coffee somewhat.
If not I'll just continue taking my aeropress and being a snob.

Check out the Hasbean. You can filter for Under £6 bags.

They also do a starter pack which is good value for money.
I recently got their Nicaragua selection pack which was really good. -

Cheers, I'll check those out

St David's in Forest Hill normally have Square Mile and sometimes others.

Also, would it be ok/slightly cheaper to get a kilo once a month somewhere instead of my pact subscription?

Rave. £12/kg delivered and there are almost monthly discount codes. It's pretty good.

Cheers for all the suggestions.
Are Rave are the guys who did the slam poetry indestructibles on how to make coffee?
Just been playing with it, needs a lot of flushing, even when turning the boiler down to 0.9. Think i need to turn off the puck drying gimmick, it injects steam into the group after the shot. And the milk tastes nasty, need to drain down the boiler and soak the wands and valves. The boiler might need scrubbing with detergent if that doesn't do the trick.
