  • Got there after midday but it still had loads going on. Loved the way they made little displays of their veg, and the glass fronted cases full of cheese and salami.

Heading off to ortiga tomorrow for lunch and then Ragusa for the rest of the week.

    Roll on more food coffee...

  • Modica is not far from Ragusa and is great. Their signature food is this grainy chocolate. The Swiss or Belgians would probably say it wasn't well made but it's fairly fantastic tasting.

Cycling in the Syracusa / Ragusa regions is dreamy if you like to climb.

  • Drop into Osteria dei Sapori Perduti on the main road in Modica. It's great.

  • Was just in York a few weeks ago and did the coffee tour.
Spring Espresso is good. Not much to look at on the inside but good coffee and great food.
Brew and Brownie, Perky Peacock and Stanley and Ramona are also worth a look.

  • Anyone going to the coffe festival today? I'll be there midday ish, mainly around the Atkinsons stand.

  • Finished my 5-pack from Bella Barista. All of it was excellent, and a bargain too:

First time I've noticed a vast improvement after the beans "resting".

  • Is you posting at 1:30am in the coffee thread a sign of something?!

  • Been considering the Colombia La Primavera. Had a few Columbians recently and they have all been good.

  • Ha! All the editing to do. Certainly had a few coffees #freelance

  • Thanks for this, my partner was at a conference there but turns out no time to explore... we shall return tho.

  • Bought some beans from the market place in sydenham. I'm quite excited to have something to fall back on in case/when royal mail fuck up my hasbean delivery.
    (although only on weds-sunday...)

  • Where's the best place to pick up one of those V60 things and some filters?

  • ^ your lcs might stock them otherwise pact often have v60 offers (see pact thread on here also)

  • Where do you live/work?

  • Reading/Islington

  • Saint espresso is a good bet in Islington.

  • Is anyone after a grinder?

I have a spare Rancilio Rocky 'Doseur' Coffee Grinder .

My brother and I pulled it apart at the weekend as it was used in a small french café for the last 10 years and had never been cleaned... Took a couple of hours to bring it back to a good clean standard and we just ground 100gr of coffee to check it was all operational.

You can see from the bean hopper colour that it is the older version but all parts are interchangeable with the more recent ones. It would be easy enough to turn it back into a doseurless one for home use.

    1. EU wall plug - easy to swap to a UK one ( I will do it if I end up putting it on eBay.
    2. The hopper is missing its lid but you can use the doseur one on it then do the 'home use' mod.
    3. The burrs work ok for filter but would need replacing (50mm) for espresso grind. They are only £25 (I would also recommend to change the 3 fitment screws on each burr.

Price wise, they tend to go for around £75/£85 on eBay but £50 is a round number.

I will take a photo of the grinder put back together tomorfow, in the meantime, here is a Haynes Manual style shot:

  • Managed to pick up a Gaggia MDF for £43 off the 'bay.

  • Do you know anywhere local I can get v60 filters and aeropress filters?

Was going to order from Hasbean but couldn't see V60, might as well try and avoid postage all together if possible...

  • North Tea Power should have both, if not they'll probably know who has.

  • I have uploaded photos of the Rancilio Rocky Doseur grinder - I am after £50 for it if anyone is interested before I hit eBay.

Pretty heavy piece of kit (about 3 or 4 kg) and I can post it if needed.

    Cheers

    Vince
