Pistanator
pistanator, is this a road bike that BLB has the rear drops cut-off and replaced with track ends. then repainted with new coppi logo's? something's not quite right about it as a track frame?!?

Like what? the relaxed looking seat tube? Lower looking BB height? Waterbottle cage mounts?
-
• #35
I like it, that's why I bought it.

yes, plus
- funny orientation of track drop outs (that look like they've been set forward to decrease the clearance)
- drilled fork
- rear brake bridge with the round centre bit
- the fact i've seen a few road frames at BLB (and also heard of the same thing happening to other frames)
- funny orientation of track drop outs (that look like they've been set forward to decrease the clearance)

that's not the point. the fact that you may have paid a great ££££ for an essentially chopped up road frame (if that is true).

that coppi looks ill

I think that's what they or somebody else did to my Ciocc aswell. The tell-tale signs are (apart from the low BB and the f*cking obvious cable guides on the top tube :) that the track ends sit a little higher on the frame than the drop-outs would have been, so the back of the bike sits a little lower and I can't get a normal clincher in under the rear brake bridge without pulling back the axle too far in the ends. It's a bit annoying to be honest - going to see if Mr. Witcomb in Deptford can sort it out for me. How has yours worked out? -

Good points, although if they did chop it up they did a good job of getting rid of all the other braze ons and I wonder how shifter bosses could have been mounted on that downtube in the first place. Regardless, it does look really nice and as long as pistanator is happy with it then that's the main thing.
I'd fit a campy aero post to match all the triangularness.

^I have one (camp arro post) I've been trying to offload for a while - willing to swap for a longer 27.2 post!
extension is 10-14.5cm -

Definitely. If he likes it, he likes it. I guess my aesthetics comment was geared more towards brick lane bikes... If you took a road frame and prepared it enough to get the old braze-ons off, trackends brazed on and resprayed, OG decals, etc. etc. it just might cost you £300+ in the end.
Like homie said above, "that coppi looks ill"
Agreed about the campy seatpost!

Competely agree dude. The other big thing is that if BLB did all that work and then sold it as an original track frame then they are being sketchy as fuck.

this is what i'm curious about. did they sell it as a track frame or as a 'frame' or converted road frame. i would imagine that by BLB prices it would be definitely £300+. which is scary. -

Am I the only one here who thinks the white/black rubino looks way better on that bike than the white za££iro?

Isnt this what BLB do all the time though? I have seen some atrocious converted frames in there (and i ride a converted frame ;))

Ok, i may have to apologise, as they have these on their website. but these have top tube brack guides, something doesn't make sense!!!!
not that bad so such a smart frame. not many knocking about either which is nice.
