Yep.
-
• #5
oh. ok. thanks!
-
• #6
Or a Sugino.
Both at Hubjub, natch.
-
• #7
or a decent hub...
-
• #8
chris crash: Decent hubs use Dura Ace too.. so what are you talking about? :)
-
• #9
i ment not formula... da phil gold tec and crew.
-
• #10
my hubs are fine for the moment thanks ;)
-
• #11
Nowt wrong with Formulas. If you're riding on the street, they are absolutely the best cost/quality compromise available.
-
• #12
i agree. what is this i hear about people upgrading the track nuts? is that really necessary? anyone had a set split?
-
• #13
if formula are the same as system x then they are fine, it makes no sense, why would you spend hundreds on hubs when you dont really need to?
-
• #14
i have a tendency to destroy them fast, would have them on a beeter but nothing more
-
• #15
What do you do with them? Hit em with a hammer? It takes about a year of every day-all day riding to wear out the bearings on a rear sys ex and about two years for the front... You can upgrade the bearings as well...
-
• #16
the track nuts are a pile of poo though. If they hear it might be raining they go orange

• #17
Kelvin If they hear it might be raining they go orange
nicely put
-
• #18
fair enough the tracknuts arent the best but new ones cost a couple of quid.
-
• #19
other than that i'm pleased with mine
-
• #20
If they don't break under hippy, they won't break under you. :)
-
• #21
i had system ex and all was fine (except the nuts; split washers and the orange allergic rash due to rain-o-phobia)
stevo_com = heavier than your common or garden hippy

destory the track nuts, bent the axel on one after 3 months, the barrings went out after 4.5 months, destoryed the lockring, and cracked the washers.. bascily everything but the hub body.

rode everyday for a year!! 400+ miles a week, subjected to 10 hours rainy days on many occasions. they dont look as nice and probably aint as tough as other hubs, but they are cheap as chips.
p.s dura ace lockring(the original lockring is poo) -
• #24
dura-ace lockring it is then, thanks you guys.

the hubs are super flimsy and have shit bearing tolerances. after recently twisting a front hub whilst lacing and having non-stop issues with loose bearings, i'm not buying another pair for myself again. goldtec are great, but after building up some phils, the difference is amazing!!
the alloy lockring on my formula hub is thoroughly buggered just from general use.
i'm gonna buy a good quality steel one but wanted to check compatibility...
i've searched the forum but nowhere says explicitly which type fits these hubs.
it's the same as campagnolo, right? so who makes them other than campy? EAI?
i understand that dura-ace et al aren't the same...
