  • you may need to sudo. ubunto probably doesn't let mere mortals use chmod.

  • Now Tommy's thing?

  • do what rjw or tommy suggest. It's the same thing.

  • you may need to sudo. ubunto probably doesn't let mere mortals use chmod.

    Glossalia again

  • /drive_c/Program Files$

^after I did what Horatio wanted

Now you need to chmod the file as above.

  • Typed in Tommy's text, get this:

    /drive_c/Program Files$

  • now try running it again.

  • you may need to sudo. ubunto probably doesn't let mere mortals use chmod.

You'll only need to use sudo if you as a user don't already have write permissions to the file. If, as it sounds in this case ,you've downloaded the file yourself, then you should have the required permissions.

  • Great success! I love the forum.

  • Glad it worked, Neil. Hope the Garmin works out. Had a go with a polar HMR today and it's pretty awesome. More data = more nerding out though, so your Garmin should be pretty sweet.

  • Sadly the browser cannot see my device- it's plugged in via USB, I hit "scan" but no dice.

The device is charging from the USB connection.

Do I have to give Wine/Firefox permission to use the USB connection?

  • Does Wine work with other USB devices?

  • No idea, I only installed it to do this.

    How do I check that?

  • I've plugged my phone in via USB, but I have no idea how to navigate to "My Computer" or it's equiv in wine to have a look for the phone

  • Can someone cleverer than me tell me what to do with regards to this: http://wiki.winehq.org/USB

    Thanks!

  • What version of Wine and Ubuntu do you have? Just read this:

I have Just installed Wine version 1.1.42 Beta on Ubuntu 10.04 and USB 2.0 works. I put a USB Stick in and it was assigned the G: drive and Notepad was able to access the files. I haven't done any patches to Wine.

  • The latest versions of both I believe- Lucid Lynx/10.04 and I literally downloaded and installed Wine just before posting to this thread.

  • The Garmin is not showing up in the File Browser.

    Hi

I have got Pytrainer working with the Forerunner 305 (including heart rate) on Ubuntu 8.04.

The correct device setting for Garmin Heart Rate is /dev/ttyUSB0

However to get the Forerunner to appear as ttyUSB0 you need to edit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist. Comment out the line that says 'blacklist garmin_gps' and then reboot.

After that Pytrainer should work with the Forerunner 305, it is a great piece of software.

    I hope this helps.

    Minophis"

Does that make any sense in this situation?

  • try it.

donno why it'd be blacklisted to being with though.

  • Heh, like I'd know how to do that.
