Umm the post about 'if this was done in reverse and all the stereotypes were black people's things, would it be racist?' is kind of obvious... I mean, yes both are racist. This blog is racism. Racism is normal. Most people are racist on some level (whatever racist means - wtf DOES it mean?), whether they admit it or not. Deal with it. (Where's Tynan when you need him?)
I was recently at a screening and Q&A of Ma'afa, this film about the enslavement of Africans made last year to counter the unquestioned 'celebrations' of the 'abolishion' of 'the slave trade'. (I would never hve put any of those words in quotes until I saw this film!). Some pink-skinned girl said to the brown-skinned people who made the film ''How can we make a difference, as white people, to repair the damage of enslavement?'' And the producer said a really fucking good thing. Basically, she said Fuck Off, work it our for yourself, why should I try and make you feel better about what your ancestors did to my ancestors? Don't make me responsible, take responsibility.

This site is not racist, it's just missing the point by about a mile. It's not about what white people like, it's about what middle-class people with disposable income like. Go to Dagenham. Full of white people; what a surprise, no expensive sandwich shops or fixed wheel bikes. Likewise, witness the middle-class black people who like fixed gear, graphic design etc. Wow! It looks like colour isn't the dividing line after all!
It's a CLASS ISSUE, and some social injustices act to align rades with certain classes (hence association of black people with poorer classes).

in the pursuit of parity i would have asked the producer why the tribes that trafficked fellow black africans along the slave trade routes had been omitted from the film (i'm being presumptuous here) and does he think their ancestors should feel any remorse regarding their actions and should they pursue a path of reconciliation? perhaps through the medium of film?
