  • ok, after just receiving the wrong bearings :( , i'd like to clarify the above!

    ambrosio/system are 6000-2RS 10x26x8mm
    phils are 6001-2RS 12x28x8mm

if you want some SKF version of the first lot for what i paid £3 PM me, otherwise they;re going back
    fuck, fuck, fuck.
6001-2RS 12x28x8mm aren't the right size, at least for these older phil hubs :(
stupid internet giving me wrong dimensions

must be imperial, as my verniers say 12.8x28.5x8mm

  • PW9R8 R8 *Phil *Low-Drag performance use ID 1/2 in, O/D 1 1/8 in, width 5/16 in $10.50

  • Anyone know a place centralish that I can wander in and browse for some bearings? I need a coupla 6000 and a coupla 6001... Looks like my cheap used Goldtecs are turning into expensive used Goldtecs after getting a new axle, caps and bearings (not to mention getting them stealthed at Armourtex)... Oh well, at least they'll be very smooth and practically invisible...

  • Cheers Murts, found a place out in Acton too... I'll see which is closest...

  • no worries buddy
still gonna do a cheech wizard on you

  • Just found this place too, well central...
    City Belts & Bearings Ltd‎,
    City Central Estate,
    Unit G,
    61 Lever St,
    London EC1V 3PY
    020 74901111‎

The guy couldn't give me prices cuz his computer was down, but good place to know about if you're in a hurry and can't bear waiting for them in the post... Apols... ;]

  • billys bmx sells sealed bearings for £9 a pair plus postage.

I paid 10 pounds for 4 bearings couple of weeks ago

  • Got mine from http://www.bearing-king.co.uk in the end (SKF rubber seal)... 14GN inc. Vat and P&P...
City Belts & Bearings wanted 7GN+ per bearing, fuck that shit...

  • Oups, just double checked, was this place where I got them from:

    Mercury Bearings Ltd
    38-39 Bow Triangle Business Centre
    Eleanor St, London, E3 4UR

  • Does anyone know what spec of bearings Miche Primato take?
Also does anyone know what the locknut sizes are??

  • Front or rear? BLB had some front (not sure about rear) in stock the other weak.

Both, but I mean the cartridge bearings though, not the hubs!

  • 6001 2rs (dual rubber sealed)

  • 6001 2rs (dual rubber sealed)

    brilliant, cheers!

  • If you get them online - make sure they are the 2rs ones.
I have 2zs (sielded) in my ENO hub and they've been fine for a year, but will need to be replaced sooner.
Next time I will use simplybearings.co.uk - not as cheap as Ebay, but quality is decent.

    +1

    skf ftw.

  • cool cool.
Don't suppose anyone knows the locknut sizes too?? Buying cone spanners online you see...

  • 14mm/13mm rear, 17mm/13mm front, on both the older and newer primatos

  • 14mm/13mm rear, 17mm/13mm front, on both the older and newer primatos

    ahh, again, cheers people

  • don't get the stainless skf ones, it says they have a lower load capacity. get normal steel ones.

  • Following this advice to extract the worn bearings from my one-one track hub:

To remove cartridge bearings you need to knock them out from the inside.

Easiest way is to strip off all the locknuts etc from the axle then use said axle to knock out the bearings. Thread a tracknut onto the end of the axle to protect and use a bit of wood twixt mallet and axle.

I'm upto a 4lb sledge hammer and the axle is still not budging.

What am I likely to be doing wrong?

  • more data pls

  • And maybe a photo of where you are up to. Shouldn't need a sledge hammer!
