  • they should make cro mo version of lavoro specific for road use + 07 colors :)

  • I had one, now in the safe hands of BDW, rode it on the road for about 3 months, stiff little puppy and you felt everything, but definitely the fastest frame i have had, took of like a rocket and ultra responsive - however i never used it from A-B, only on rides, would make a shit everyday bike, and i would not want to leave it anywhere, i am now glad it belongs to wayne and its back on the track as although it was my favorite bike i have had, it was wasted on me and on the road.

  • wonder if anybody would custom build such a frame for me out of steel to exactly same dimensions and look as the condor one, or are these frame designs copyrighted? :)

  • It would weigh a tonne.

  • Doesn't look a million miles away from my Dolan and that makes a great road bike. I don't really do A-B though so can't say what it would be like for that but it is great for the riding I do (20 - 60 mile loops)
The whole alu uncomfortable/steel comfortable thing is a load of bollocks IMO and I go from steel to alu all the time.

Don't know about alu fatigue though, I never keep a bike long enough for that...

  • Nothing wrong with Alu frames at all, less of this anti-alu shilly-shallying thank you kindly

  • Agree with you guys, comfort is not an issue for me, i prefer performance to comfort usually :) but even with stiff frame there probably would be a way around it - 25 or 28mm tires, choice of seat, seat post, fork i can guess..

The fatigue is the thing.. loads of those 'commercial' bikes are made of alu and they apparently sell and last and don't usually fall apart but i wonder if they would last decades like some old steel frames. Iam going to use my bike for races, A to B commuting from bank to stokey (through harsh Kingsland Rd :/ ) thats why my concern..

Kerley what Dolan frame do you ride?

althought some frame don't have clearance for 25c tyres, the other way to make the ride slighty more comfortable is a low profile rims with low flange hubs.

  • I can get 25c's into my Fort Track, think I'll see if I can squeeze 28's in next time around...Hear you on harsh though, pumped my tires nice and hard for the first time in ages yesterday (my pump broke about two months ago) and passed over some cobbles... not nice :(

  • Don't think mone would have clearance for anything less than 25mm. Can't wait to ride it at HH tomorrow!!!!

  • This view is with 22mm tubulars.

A Pre Cursa. It is certainly stiff (noticeable when accelerating and hill climbing), but doesn't feel any less comfortable than a Steamroller I had previously.

ye but no but ye but.. what if you move the rear wheel a bit more to the back.. ..and change the fork :) iam sure you could squeeze some 2.10 tyres in there if you try hard :D:D

Just spoke to guys at condor today.. they assured me that alu frames are perfectly ok for road... just bit.... guess what.. stiff.
they say they are fast and good to accelerate. and i like that because i like to go off fast
just got confused with some opinions here

just dont know anymore if ist worth spending all that money on "OTP" kinda bike from condor... hmmm... lost

  • hmm just ordered lavoro from condor... now its just waiting :)

  • Rather than start my own thread....

Was thinking of buying either this frame:

    Or this frame:

Will be used on the track and on the road. I just retired a Fort track frame so the geometry of either should be pretty close.

    Any advice?

  • @imp: How long does it take to get the Lavoro?

  • I have a Lavoro....it's stiff and uncomfortable on bumpy stuff, as you'd expect and has massive toe overlap. It's also v.tall.

    Great fun on the smooth.

  • I've got a dolan pre-cursa size 56 for sale if you're at all interested?

  • I waited 4-5 weeks, and finally got it about 2 weeks ago.
They are having a shop refit in Condor and on their website says they'll be closed for a couple of weeks but I don't know when exactly. Haven't been there in recent days but they might have already finished the refurbishment and apparently they were supposed to have shorter waiting lists once that's done so it's best to check with them currently.
As I said 2 weeks gone as I have my lavoro (pretty sure they had a couple of 52s and 55s last years frames with aero seattube in rapha condor colors) and Its great so far being used on the road but I cannot really compare since thats my first fixed.

That frame looks like on picture below, or see my gallery

they're still open, they just move their shop next door to continued their business while the main shop get refitted.

  • I prefer the Dolan.

  • I always love that Condor graphic, quick advice - change the chainring bolt on the Miche crankset, they're pretty weak as I discovered recently, the bolt seemed to be made out of butter and consquencely need to drill it in order to removed it!

    other than that, it's fine.

  • Sorry, Dolans - my bad

  • Like the idea of one of these as a change from my pista...bit concerned about Alu fatigue though....anyone ditched one of these puppies?

I'm a lightweight 12.5st, and pretty smooth on the road. (oo-er)

    Cheers All.

    Jg.

Give me one for an hour and i'll snap it, i'm lightweight at 16 stone 8, also i'm very gentle on my bike and rarely break parts.
