  • That is my advice, read mine over Mr Smiths when thinking about getting a job as a courier. That is all. Go to www.movingtargetzine.com so you'll get a better understanding.

    Innit.

  • whoa now! can everybody please just KEEP YOUR KNICKERS ON.

Mr Brown, just because you advise that being a courier is good doesn't make your opinion more valid than Mr Smith's. You're both entitled to that, and the guy who asked has both sides of the argument now. I don't know that reading any website will give him an idea of what it's really like though.

Horses for courses. I wouldn't want to be a dentist but hey, someone does, and thank goodness for that.

I once pointed this out to the bloke doctor who was examining my todger at the clap clinic - he was not at all amused - just a precautionary check up mind

  • I once pointed this out to the bloke doctor who was examining my todger at the clap clinic - he was not at all amused - just a precautionary check up mind

well quite. I'm not actually sure anyone ever really grows up wanting to do that...do they?

As he is a courier he's in a better position to advise on the realities of the job, surely? His opinion may not be more 'valid' but it is probably more accurate,

What if the guy asking has no knowledge of London and is actually a bit scared of traffic and bendy buses and is allergic to rain and can't fix a puncture or read a map?

  • I can assure you if I was a neutral and read my advice over mr smiths advise...then I would say mine is extremely more valid. All Mr Smith is doing is putting the lad off by stating points he has no idea about.

  • What if the guy asking has no knowledge of London and is actually a bit scared of traffic and bendy buses and is allergic to rain and can't fix a puncture or read a map?

If he i allergic to rain and scared of traffic he probably wouldn't be asking for advice about becoming a courier would he? If, however, he wants to know about the pay he can expect, and the realities of the job, I think he'd be better off listening to people who know what they're talking about.

  • It's not sound advice. Just because he was rubbish doesn't mean everyone will be. Not trying to impress just giving my opinion, which he seemed to be annoyed by.

You were the one that got all pissy when I gave my opinion.
I might have been shit but I didn't bother sticking around long enough to find out how shit, since i could earn a lot more doing something else.

  • I got a little nugget of opinion for you, based on many years experience of having an opinion:

If you are seriously thinking about this (and it looks like you must be) then go for it. The worst that can happen is you don't like it, well then you can leave. It's not the army, you won't have to sign up for 9 years or get beasted by a nasty man with a moustache (unless it's metro and I don't think they're hiring, ;) ) and you can always look for other work whilst you're doing it and the people you meet through it may give you a springboard to something else, if that's what you decide.

Give it a go, you've really got nothing to lose.

  • Its sad really...

  • seven years - I bloody loved it - I still bloody love it - I love traffic - I love playing in traffic - If you love playing in traffic - its the perfect job

  • what RPM said.

  • There is an awful lot of dick waving going on here. I'm with RPM, try it and see what you think. If you don't like it find something else to do.

  • dick waving…

  • The money aint good when you start, but is does get better with experiance. I enjoyed the years I spent as a courier and was making good money, though you will have to put the work in to get it. There's a lot of weirdo's on here that just like to argue about anything, why not give it a go...as RPM said you dont have to do it if you dont like it.

p.s. playing in traffic is fun, especially when you get paid for it.

  • "There's a lot of weirdo's on here that just like to argue about anything"

    I disagree!

  • ..............there are!!!

  • are not!

  • are too!!

  • Well, allow me to wave my dick around a bit.

January is the worst month to be a courier. There is no work, the weather is shit, and everyone is grumpy.

I've heard stories of blokes getting 150 quid a week for five days, but that has never been my experience. That said I reckon I'm one of the better paid ladies out there, and i'm not breaking 400 a week very often ( I'm also not working 5 days very often, but there you go).

My opinion? Trail a courier for a day if you know one, then talk to a company with a garentee and lie through your teeth about your experience.

  • Agreed. You gonna be out and about tomorrow Nhatt?

  • are too!!

    are not, no returns!

(this is the kind of quality forum banter we know and love :))

  • I find being a hipster, whilst not directly earning you money, does result in wanabe hipsters buying you drinks, food etc just to bask in my Hipstertastic aura - if i am ever skint a quick pub crawl of Shoreditch on my HHSB inevitably results in a full stomach and a wobbly alcohol fuelled journey home - Additionaly from time to time i will be asked to do a Loaded or Vice photoshoot, and be paid to explain to others how they too can live the hipster dream, and resulting in free skinny jeans for me, meaning i wont have to borrow my sisters for a couple of months

  • Well done people. I go away for a few days and miss out on a classic courier thread.
Anyway, in a nutshell, though I don't have much experience, as I understand it, the best thing about being a courier is all the ladies you get. Sexy ladies I believe.
The down side. There is no downside! It's wall to wall ladies!

Anyone who thinks Hippy is a dickhead should not be giving advice on anything.

No, they should be charging for it!

    wahey!
