  • The world is upside down now

  • For those of you in cabin fever the NFL has posted a load of classic games on You Tube - Super Bowls and notable playoff and regular season games. Playlist here.

The 1992 Oilers / Bills game is included. For some of us, that still hurts.

  • Game Pass is free through April too

  • Thanks for that link btw

  • Since DHop got traded I’ve lost all interest in the NFL.

  • Cool, thanks.

  • Washington are dropping their Redskins moniker and logo.
Nothing has been announced to replace it yet.

  • I heard Washington Presidents was highly likely.

  • Red Hawks is getting a bit of support.

  • Dan Snyder and Mark Davis vie for the title of "worst human beings who own an NFL franchise" every year. Whatever is selected will suck.

  • I did joke with my wife that they will just go down a more racist route

  • The 'joke' from last weeks Poscast,
    was Michael Schurr read a a tweet along the lines of;
'We acknowledge that the current name is and always has been inappropriate.
The review has included from ths moment forward the
NFL franchise will be known as the 'DC Redskins''.

  • Redtails/Redwolves seem to be the most popular in my twittersphere (of a Was fan.). Part of me suspects they might just take the path of least trademark squat resistance in the knowledge that they were never going to please everyone anyway!

  • Out of interest, is your twittersphere largely supportive of a name change?

  • I hate the suggestion of Redtails/Redwolves.

Retails -> Hawk -> Atlanta NFL franchise
Red Wolves -> Critically endangered -> Wolves usually associated with Minnesota

Also it means they refuse to get rid of the "red." It's lazy. Just call yourself the red balloons and play Nena's 99 Luftballoons at every game. Snyder is a joke.

  • Quite like your idea of 'retails', it sums up the NFL rather nicely.

  • Ha!

    I'm leaving that typo in.

  • Shouldn't they just go for orange instead of red?

  • I think the majority of the fanbase who have heard every argument on every side of the issue ad infinitum over the last decade or so, have been beaten into apathy. I can't really empathise with the 'this will no longer be the team I supported' viewpoint, although it is out there. I'm glad it's happening so it can be put to bed. Ultimately it is the right thing, even if it has happened because of the wrong stimuli. A lot of Snyder-skeptics, but it is also a 'convenient' time for the team with Ron Rivera coming in, and Bruce Allen out etc. If thats what it took for it to happen, so be it.

  • Dan Synder has been pretty unrepentant about the idea of the name changes for years. Only once his sponsors threatened to cut the gravy train of money did his tune change. Fuck him.

  • I'd imagine the thought only goes as deep as the business need to minimise friction for the changeover amongst as much of the fanbase as possible, which I think rules out any large scale rebranding.

    Fuck him.

    Correct.

  • His wonderful curse is that he is so unbelievably inept at managing that team that he'll never get s sniff of a Lombardi trophy.

  • He's been far more hands off in the post Scott Mcloughan era. His hamartia has always been the fact that he's a fan of the team, compounded by his incompetence - so resisting the temptation to meddle has seemed impossible.
