  • One for @giles337

Easily, one of the best defensive backs I ever had the pleasure of watching. I do miss those classic Washington / Dallas and Washington / Philly games from BITD. Absolutely deserved.

Very, very classy move by the new ownership group. Hope that this is a sign of a good season ahead and better seasons to come.

  • He’s so likeable. He’s before my time as a player, but I remember my Uncle going on and on about him whenever I’d visit DC as a kid, even before I really got into football myself.

I’m trying so hard to keep rebuild expectations tempered. It really does feel like fresh winds blowing finally. 100% of veterans showing up to voluntary OTAs in the week before the draft. (I know some of that is new HC, new GM so self preservation but still). I haven’t felt this nervous excitement for a season since 2012, and I’m generally quite a happy go lucky fan, even in the lows.

  • I haven’t felt this nervous excitement for a season since 2012

All change. All good change. Everything is still possible.

Last year was like that for me with the Texans. Turned out ok in the end.

  • On the subject of Jameis, FivePoints just did a video on him.

I swear people track this thread and follow us for content suggestions.

  • NFL games in Tottenham

New York Jets vs Minnesota Vikings,
    Sunday 6 October, 2.30pm BST
    Jacksonville Jaguars vs Chicago Bears,
    Sunday 13 October, 2.30pm BST

Would be interested in the jaguars bears game. Depends on how good a start to the season Caleb and da bears are having though..

  • Yes will be good to see Caleb Williams, and Mayo & Maye at Wembley too. And what will Rogers have lost after his Achilles rupture? Plenty of points of interest.

    Meanwhile, some things never change

  • Weirdly none of those games appeal. I may just skip getting tickets for this year's matchups.

Seen the Jags too much. Bears might be ok, but Eberfluss. Not sure I can deal with another Vikings game and fuck Rodgers and his clown show.

Urgh. Had him in my fantasy team last season. Hope he gets dropped.

  • NFL fans now need to stump up ~$1,600 and subscribe to 7 separate services if they want to catch every game next season, according to estimates in the wake of a new deal with Netflix.

Consumer choice, don’t you just love it…

  • Game pass not have everything anymore?

  • Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid not condemning the comments of Butker is a tragedy for the sport imo.

I know America is going to America, but even still. All the hatred that went towards Kapernick, and now this and nobody really seems to be criticising him for his 'stand'.

  • Yeah. He's a kicker not a quarter back.

Kapernick was making a valid point whereas Butker just decided to prove what a misogynistic dickhead he is. (although far too many would reverse the names in the statement I made)

Remember the Payton Manning / Mike Vanderjagt thing? Worth looking that one up.

"...we’re talking about our idiot kicker who got liquored up and ran his mouth off....The sad thing is, he’s a good kicker. He’s a good kicker. But he’s an idiot.”

  • I may just skip getting tickets for this year's matchups.

I cracked. Jags / Pats and Jags / Bears tickets acquired. Demeco jersey (ht: @cornelius_blackfoot ) will make an appearance at one of those. My Stingley jersey at the other.

Bears on Hard Knocks is going to be a fantastic.

  • Let’s not forget Riley Cooper as well.

    America is going to America

    Sad but true

  • $1600 dollars to sit at home and watch your team play 17 times. Or 17 $93ish nights out in the bar watching your team. I know which one I would prefer.

Incidentally, has anyone worked out an average price per team (including travel/accommodation/etc) to go to all home and road games throughout the regular season? Must be an absolute fortune.

  • What’s the deal with gamepass this season?

  • Through DAZN now. It's a pain, but anything is better than the garbage that was the NFLs gamepass app..

  • Right I understand the outrage now.

Minus Texas and prime time games I only watch red zone anyway. It’s an ADHD football heaven.

  • Sadly Larry Allen passed away suddenly.

He was a stalwart of the the 90s Cowboys offensive line with 7x 1st team All Pro selection and he was a 1st ballot hall of famer. Immense, immense player who modernised what we think of as Offensive Linemen.

Best known for this play, but his entire career was a highlight.

  • Was wondering why the around the nfl podcast had gone silent over the off season, seems the nfl network is going with a newer younger version
    https://deadline.com/2024/07/around-nfl-podcast-nfl-network-surprise-cut-dan-hanzus-marc-sessler-gregg-rosenthal-1236003132/

Currently watching the “new” podcast that’s taking its place, but wondering where hanzus will end up, sessler I could take or leave…

  • Was wondering why the around the nfl podcast had gone silent over the off season

I was thinking this, as notice no new eps. Figured they were taking an offseason break.

That's such a shame as it was the only podcast that I actually listened too. Just the right level of detail for me, delivered in the right context with all the lovely side chat of good mates etc.

I doubt I'll listen to an alternative as it was their relationship that was the best bit for me. Sadly probably means I'll be much less invested this season. In fact I probably won't follow it all without the insight.

That is unless they start their own one outside of the NFL.

  • They’re also moving Good Morning Football to LA and that has been off air for ages now too. NFL media they’re trying to sell off potentially to ESPN.

Here’s Mike Floria’s piece on around the nfl podcast shutting down

    https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/around-the-nfl-podcast-ends

  • Yeah. Annoyed by that change. Quite a cold move by the NFLN. Lots of backlash against them.

I saw them when they taped a show in London a couple of years ago. Good times.
