  • Just looking at the backspin. Looks like a damn good frame and fork for a pretty good price:

I think I want one. I love bikes that scream "ride me", and that one really does.

  • Except I'd want that really schnazzy Fixie Inc coupler thing so that I could put a carbon drive on it.

    Then it'd be lush.

  • Smoke machines in ads, not to be fucked with.

  • Smoke machines my arse. That's the dust and ashes of another ruined metropolis that these bikes have emerged from.

  • I wish they were on 50% sale. I'm surprised they're not after all that time. I'd get a beater - the Backspin one.

  • the black one is the 2011 model, therefore you have to wait 1 more year

  • it's all about the pure blood, i'd love this bike:

  • I saw that in the Bike Show a while ago, it does look impressive, especially with hydraulic brake (they used a 'convertor' to make it work with drop brake, bit of an unnecessary weight IMHO).

  • That Pureblood with a 11 speed alfine, and gates belt drive.

    Perfect*.

(actually I'd like some mudguards, but have difficulty admitting it)

  • That is a lush bike.

It's my birthday in a couple of weeks, I'd happily accept a Pure Blood.

    Very clever.

I'd rather just go striaght mechanical though. Simplicity FTW.

I keep expecting Hydrolic sti levers to crop up. They wont be cheap though. Niche product, and all that.

I'd start a forum whip around. But you already have something similar. Albeit flat bared.

  • With the UCI allowing disc brake in cyclocross, I'm sure by next year we'll have some prototype hydrualic sti levers soon, it would be a dream.

I'd like a Rohloff with hydraulic sti levers and stainless steel mudguard that match the bicycle.

Actually, an Independent Fabrication would be my top choice if I were to go this far fetched in component (especially the existence of such shifter for the Rohloff!).

Where would you put the Rohloff shifter?

  • I'd start a forum whip around. But you already have something similar. Albeit flat bared.

Flat barred for the Rohloff shifter.

What kills me is that I really want the other wheelset that I originally planned on, but I've been so broke since building the bike and things in my life have seem to have broken and incurred cost at a greater pace than my ability to make money.

Still pining for Chris King hubs, carbon drive belt, sturdy rims to make the Mather into the Singlespeed it is destined to be.

I haven't ridden fixed/single for a year now, and I really really miss it but lack the funds to even get a beater to do something about it.

I even sold my iPad last week hoping to pick up a beater (the nice bikes being too nice to leave locked outside a cinema - and eventually I've found I don't ride them if I suspect I have to lock them anywhere), just to have my coffee machine fail a few days later. Really sucks. I feel like I'm living a life of futility, I make these heroic efforts to get money under control, and yet I continue to have to endure being absolutely broke. It's getting me down, it's no lie.

    v

(especially the existence of such shifter for the Rohloff!).

I can only dream, it's pretty much the only thing that put me off the otherwise excellent Rohloff - the gripshifter.

Luckily the Alfine 11 perform surprisingly well and almost a worthly alternate to the Rohloff (rapidfire shifter), only time will tell regarding the reliablitiy of it for heavy long distance tour.

  • David, what size top tube you need in a frame?

Sounds like the joys of parenthood. You think your breaking even, when a massive bill pops through the door.

Its at these times that I buy some uber cheap part of the bike I'm building. Just reasure myself that its moving forward.

Buy yourself some spoke nipples, or some veloplugs.

I'm going to start small. Maybe with some valve caps.

    On the front rack.

If your confident on your rim/hub. Buy some nice spokes. I love spokes.

  • On the front rack.

    That'd work.

You need to read the rules...
