I've had bad experiences with gatorskins - loss of grip and punctures. Moved onto 4 seasons few weeks ago but now have a tear in the tyre which is allowing a little bulge of inner tube to protrude from the tyre. Can this be solved by glueing the tear or something? Really not impressed with contis atm.

That ^^ is why Contis suck arse - they are bedevilled by sidewall cuts. Either fit a boot (and hope it holds) or bin them.

I used gators. Were great on my comute in the summer but I wasn't confident in the wet.
No flats though.
Currently using a Maxxis Refuse and can't praise them enough.

michelin speedium 2's any good? Its either them, vittora something or what lfgss term as the 'unmentionable' ultra sports. all about £7-10 a pop. really can't spend any more, build has already bust the budget on everything by lots.

I use gatorskins everyday, I've been using the same tyres for just over a year. I havent (touch wood) had a puncture yet. I even like them in the rain!

This Sunday gone I escorted a bloke 15k from Uxbridge to Ealing as his Gatorshit was flat and he'd left home without a pump. In hindsight I should've given him a tube and left him to it.

Or killed him in the head.
It was the least he deserved.

I just thought I'd hand over the pump and be outta there. Nope.. knew I should've just looked the other way. Still, massive karma points..

Two really soft punctures in two weeks on the GP 4 Season I put on my front wheel. Both from really, really small bits of grit. And the worst thing is they ride like crap. Really lumpy - they just slap into every bump.
And they're £30+! Continental: please fuck off.

Bontrager hardcases for the win.
Best all round tyre ever.

Ok, so I just found out that my neighbour was (and still is) puncturing my tyres deliberately.
My most sincere apologies to Continental :-)

Is there an ongoing feud or are they just being cnuts?

too much pressure? they have a high tpi pliable carcass they give good ride quality unless you have just come from a £45 vittoria made with spider web silk.

Came from Rubino Pros and the difference was very noticeable, running about 110-115psi on the front so nothing silly. I've kind of got used to it now but I still don't like it much. No further punctures since that first week though, touch wood, etc., but I'm not going to be buying another one.

Just move out. Living next to hippy isn't such a great idea.

That's what you want him to think.

I rode on a brand new 4 seasons on Saturday morning - which split. On my way home. A small bubble like protrusion then popped out and forced me into the path of a (sweet) ford capri..... Hilarious.
Did i mention that that this was brand new?
I am dissapoint. -

Pay money for Contis? No thanks. I'll certainly try them if I get hold of some.

Went for some Gatorskins when the Bonty Hardcase was discontinued.
Sweet I thought, rolls quicker, far lighter etc etc.
One week
One puncture
One shredded bead
One Conti in the bin.Fucking balls.

Update: as promised (top of the page) I'm running Maxxis Re-fuse now. Much better grip in all conditions than the Armadillos. No pun#*>€$ yet. I like em. I'm no racer but I like the way they roll too.
Does sound like Maxxis or Armadillos are the way to go. Will see how the Gatorskin holds out on the ride home tonight, probably at a lower pressure due to the little hand pump i'll be using).
Thanks for the input.
