what size/length of tube protector are you looking for?
-
• #28
Yanco pads do a short one now, in ANY (almost) pattern or colour. Freshtripe imports them
-

It's alright I suppose.

Ahhh who am I kidding that is one beautiful frame. -

Nice !
That's paul lever will go further inboard (towards the stem) if you want, you just have to ream some material off the inside of the clamp section, there is enough there to not weaken it.
Looking excellent, when do you get the orange arrospoks ?

Momentum
Just one thing - you generally shouldn't clamp the frame tubes as they can be quite fragile and get dented. Bst thing is to pop a seatpost in and clamp on that.first rule of workstand:
You DO NOT clamp the top-tube
second rule of workstand:
you DO NOT clamp the top-tube.
I cringed when Kevin Bacon did that to his bike in Quicksilver, for me it was the worst bit of cycling related bullshit in the whole film.
don't clamp any of the bike's tubes, that's what seatposts are for, and if you have a carbon one, use an old alloy one or at least put some wadding round it!

-
• #37
you can never have too many baby-blue bikes, eh Smiffy?
-
• #38
i don't know what colour(s) it will be but chocolate brown, claret/vermillion, pistachio, purple, cream and mid-blue are all possibles. a combination of a 3 with head tube, barbers pole and lug lining.
then i need to decide on the decal colours :-) -

the-smiling-buddha its a LOOK ajustable stem for dialing in TT riding position, on the bareknuckle I suffer with numb hands anything over twenty miles, this set up is designed to find a riding position to eliminate that, also I like these stems, i think they are kinda cool
I just want to say that this forum and the people who post here are an absolute inspiration to me, this bike will look the bollox and *that is thanks to you lot *,so I suppose I owe you lot a pint...;)
the button for that is over there <---- Does that make up for all the stuff i did VB?
kick ass bike, im getting simalar bars, and we can hang out with our blue out

no, that's not it.
the one Paul is holding up, is his own personal custom built one-off mercian -all black with specially anoidized components and gloss back lettering. it's in the gallery section.
can't you tell it's not the same bike? :)

I can't wait for the end of the month, then it's off to mercian for a respray and freshen up of the frame i bought off ebay for £35.
Had it authenticated by Mercian before christmas and it's a nice one too.Was thinking black with white lining but i'm not sure now. Colours look good.

41 French Blue Enamel
28 Royal Blue Enamel
22 White EnamelIt is very, very difficult to get the colours right, I went through endless combinations,
in the end I was drawn to the French blue because I live in Paris
and the Royal blue because I am English,
English/French had a nice feel about it...!!
In other words I made my choice intuitively as much as aesthetically
One thing to note is that the range of decal options is much more limited than paint options
You need to start with a base colour and a decal colour before adding a third colour and other options
With mercians it is very easy to go too far and then you end up with the Paul Smith bike
Which may suit some people but for me has a bit to much going on
It is very easy to get it wrong...;) -
• #49
cool thanks for that it gives me some idea of what colours what.
i am thinking of a deep burgundy/liver/purple colour too but anything that dark just looks black on the mercian colour chart
if i lived near Derby i would photograph the samples myself :-)"It is very easy to get it wrong...;)" i think you got it right

Why the hell has this designermonkey got the all-black frame and sells those bloody candy cane twirly things to other rich baboon felchers? It maketh no sense.
Classy - I remember the hubs and rims that you posted actually. It's gonna be a nice build!
