Cheers Zieleman, Im not usually one for pink but its good to have a change once in a while, plus it was a great deal.
The cranks are SR Apex, rear mech is 600 arabesque and the brakes are Cherrys.
I wouldnt mind building it all up so its matching, just need the cash first.

The bike is badged up as a super aa, the seller was unsure though if it was. Can anyone shed any light on this?
It has the cool butterfly seatstay bridge if that helps at all. -

Good you're asking. I took closer look and spotted quite some interesting stuff.
The paint, graphics and so on is interesting in combination with the butterfly bridge. It is a repaint for sure.
It looks like the frame has top tube internal routing. This in combination with the butterfly bridge makes me think the routing could be added with the repaint.
Does your frame have these bridges? >>
If so, I am pretty sure we're dealing with a late 70s AA here. More indications lead to that (eg absence of eyelets), but with the bridges it is more plausible. I am kind of puzzled by the to me long looking rear drop outs and fork crown though. Maybe it is even earlier.
The 'AA-Super' decal could very well be incorrect. I have seen more resprayed Champion Mondials where it looked like they picked the model denotion decal ad random. Above aquamarine frame is a good example: AB decal, while it is clearly an refinished AA. Untill circa '76 Gazelle did not mention model on left chainstay, but simply "GAZELLE". Maybe that explains.
Above aqua frame had a race number mount fitting added at a later point btw. Probably with the refinishing.

I used to cruise through town on a pink Panasonic MTB. I liked it and it was great in that nobody even thought of stealing it.

Absolutely no AA-Super frame, because this one has no concave seat tube (dent), longer chain stays and long, horizontal Campagnolo dropouts.
When I look at the dropouts, it must be an A-frame (confirmed by the fork crown).
Highly interesting is the cable routing through the top tube. This has never been done with A-frames. Looks like this is done outside Gazelle and that would also mean that the paintjob and decals are not original. Gazelle would never respray an A-frame with internal cable routing and certainly not lable it as an AA-Super frame.
Still a very nice bike though.
As far as I can judge it from a distance (with these pictures available), the paintjob is very nice and even for Gazelle it would have been difficult to do it better. -

Wow thanks for help Zieleman and Dutch Cheese. This is the first Gazelle Ive owned so its nice to learn a bit about it. Here is a better picture of it (sadly the right side paint job has a couple of scratches), it doesnt have the bridge pictured in the photo Zieleman put up, you get a better view of the internal cable routing though.
Is it common for this kind of alteration to be made? -

I've worked a couple of yours at Gazelle's lightweight devision in the 1980's and I handled most of the repair and respray stuff, too.
Every year we got requests to modify the frame, e.g. internal cable routing.
Extra bosses like braze-on for FD, number plate, second bottle cage holder, ect. was very, very common and easy to do. Alsways granted against payment.
Internal cable routing requests were always denied, because Gazelle didn't want to make e.g. an AA-Special out of a Trim Trophy.
Internal cable routing was exclusively for top end like AA-Special and AA-Super (1st 753 frames, too, but these frames failed). These requests were always turned down.People who got their frame repaired or modified somewhere elso (private frame builder) never got their Gazelle frame resprayed.
Maybe in very special cases it was resprayed, but the remark was filed, that warranty claims were impossible.

I agree it is an A. It looks exactly like my cherry/white panel A-frame, but probably with eyelets taken off and internal routing added with refinishing. What DC mentions about Gazelle's authenticity requirement for a repaint can be seen specced in this price list here >>>

Uitsluitend Gazelle Champion Mondial frames in originele staat kunnen worden overgelakt.
It is surprising how many externally repainted Champion Mondials float around than. Especially given that overall the resprays tend to look very tidy and accurate performed, except for the wrong chainstay decal than.

Looks very nice. Colour a bit like with my old AA. I understand front mech braze on and the two guides along the toptube are added with the repaint. Nice. All done at Gazelle?
I do like that Zeus 2000 crown a lot. Quite rare.
On the brake callipers: I see you lost the original end nuts. You can source quite alike looking stainless nuts at the Praxis.

Hi there,
i just found out you guys having a Gazelle track thread. so i would like to contribute a little.
i found myself a Gazelle track frame too last summer, it's from 1974, serialnr. is 31713xx
Here is a picture, i just build it up once with some of the parts, just to see how it will look.
Unfortunately, the old paint (actually 2 layers) had to go, to much rust underneath.
Right now, the frame is at the paintshop and will be resprayed.

I were 2nd owner. Its 1st owner lived in Assendelft Netherlands and had it specced from new with Victory and c-Record clipless pedals. The Gazelle had not seen many miles, but had been parked away on a slightly humid attic for years.
I would think you need a 27.2mm post. Original that was fitted in the frame was a 27.2 Victory aero example... Plus so far all CM's I encountered took a 27.2

Yes, I know that one. Defines perfection really well.
I have an AB exactly like that. DAF-Cote d Or paint? The frame/bike came equipped with Nuovo Record. After having it acquired I entirely disassembled it for a an overhaul, like I pretty much always do. Frame was very nice, but not mint. I put a lot of effort in touching the tiny spots up and I am very happy with how it turned out. I have some experience in touching up, but I am very keen on not hurting patina or not creating an outcome that would hurt style in another way. Currently the frame is waiting for being build. I think it will be Nuovo Record again.
Looks very lush. The optimistic attitude paint makes me happy. What kit is that? Gran Sport cranks, 600 rear mech, Golden Aero brakes??? Dutch pragmatic mix?
