• match the rest of the bike :-)

• flickwg
Object17 What about flats? Though I'm planning on changing to some drops for a while.

WTF you realise you cant cut down drops
I'm having to put a brake back on my bike. This means new bars (There's just no way to put a lever on my bars) and a new wheel (That comes complete with a breaking surface)

On the upside I've apparently got around 10 years left in my knee before they have to replace it, provided I stop being me and spend the next 10 years sat in a house crying quietly to myself dwelling on how I can't do all the things I love.

Place you bets now on how much of this advice I'm going to ignore. The scale is as follows [1 = None] to [10 = All of it].
I'll give you a clue, theres a number known as imaginary 1 which is roughly translatable as EmiliƩ actively doing the opposite just because he's a contrary bastard.

• You win a prize of some sort. I, however, probably need a slap for knowing in advance that I'll be ignoring sound medical advice.

• Sorry about your knee O17. do stretches/exercises, drink cod liver oil, use the brake and live with the rest...
vegansdngears, aren't you in the US now? why are you experimenting on us with your baiting threads of doom.
Flat barz is teh new sex.

• medicine is far from an exact science, I am sure if you do some physio to beef up the muscles and tendums round your knees you will do a hell of alot better than the average 10 years they give your knee. You are not the average man! I have no knowledge to back this up of course but plenty of hear say and conjecture. Good luck with the kee.

• Cheers Provenrad

I'm vegan so it's a no on the Cod Liver Oil front, but I'm sure I'll locate an ethical alternative. Stretching is tedious but as you point out essential.
I'm currently riding brakeless, but I've dropped the gear inch and have an articulated knee brace to remove a lot of the tension. I'm also riding a hell of a lot slower than normal.

It's the snowboarding/bmxing/skating/mountain biking/climbing that concern me.
That said, find me in 10 years, I'd bet I'm still doing them all. Stubborn doesn't even come into it.

• WIth similar issues a while back, and an identical complaint about the old fish oil, I was advised to take glucosamine complex (which you can get in those odd vegan-friendly capsules), and a vet told me that evening primrose has beneficial porperties for joints (insert drug-related gag here). And as everyone knows, vets are just really lovely doctors. Erm, quite.

• thats a good point Scott, I think i need to get my hands on some to check it out.

Dude, the way that most doctors work is to go from the lowest common denominator, ie the average joe, ie the laxy, fat pieces of shit who won't do anything to help themselves. Active people, especially those who do some form of rehabilitation, can extend the prognosis enormously. Talk to a physio andget some recommendations from them...

Good luck!

• Check the dude's bars with the Yellow Spok at the end this trailer.

Scroll down a tad.

• scott dun got broked good to see toms brooklyn all over that page....viva la brooklyn...:)

Yup Luvin that set up.

• all this talk of handlebars... i've gone through so many phases. was a hardcore drop fran, then chopped and flopped bullbars for a little while, kicking about on flats right now but never tried moustache bars. i know it hasnt been mentioned on this thread but for some reason, reading through has inspired me to order some from hubjub to go on my pub bike. figured it might be comfy and compliment the relaxed ride i get from the low gearing. but then i'm hoping the shape is versatile enough for other riding positions... only time will tell...

• I had butchered drops fitted upside down which were very comfortable and looked better than standard bullhorns in my opinion but on my fixed conversion I will be sticking with drops to follow through with the classic look, but with no tape on the bars

Cheers for the advice dude. I've got high spirits and a physio already.
Still, it's nice to have those reinforced by other people.

• good luck with the knee, and you got to come to my home state for some snowbording at some point in your life. best snow in the world, not that im overly influnced.

• Which state?
I'm having to give the snowboarding a miss this year but next season!

• colorado. i segust copper mtn for good snow and varried runs, or at least it was last itme i went ages ago. or winter park where i went this season, not so nice on the snow/ runs front, but close to boulder so you can stay in town and watch drunk frat boys get arested/ min-riot.

• Sounds awesome, I love drunk fratboys :]

• if you get what i think your after then more power to you.

i have a mate at uni in boulder, she lives in the halls, and we went to a 'party' in a frat that involved a lot of boys yelling and making grunts, flying half full beer cans, and really really really bad music, that people kept changeing in the middle of a track.
