Looks nice, although a bit expensive but probably the right ballpark if you don't want to hunt for a frame. Hard to tell if it will be French or English BB as it varied on French bikes at this time. The only way to tell is measure the shell width to check it is 68mm (French or English) and rule out Italian (70mm). Then ask the seller to look at the cup threading or thread in the cups if it came with a BB. French will be right hand (standard) thread both sides, English will be left hand thread on drive side. If it has a French BB then ask the seller to include it or start hunting ebay, but it will be a bit of a pain in the arse.
By the way, French frames often also had a different steerer tube inside diameter and so need a different size quill stem. However, the difference is small (22mm instaed of standard 22.2mm) and some careful sandpapering of a standard stem will sort it out.

Forgot to say: Passed an email to Freshtripe with some questions and the frame takes standard 1" stems, and he says it's english or french threads. So hopefully not french then I take it...

Buy something with proper ends.

i would agree with ma3k but if your budget is 85 squid then its very unlikely you will be able to find a frame with "proper ends"

I spotted the polar opposite of that frame for you kboy- Alloy/carbon. Guy had advertised it before so haggle.
Frame costs 160, forks 80, seller has listed frame, forks, headset for 130 posted.

provenrad: cheers for the link, but im looking for something classic
I´m really tempted to get the frame. Mainly to get going, will take me a month or two to source parts, but also I don´t think I´ll find a frame much cheaper... oh the worries of the modern man...

provenrad Fair dos man... classic = steel ;-)
Ebay 501 claude from robertoyeah having my eyes on that too... think it will end under 85? That looks like it needs a respray though, i´d like to keep my frame in original paint if possible

i like that possible gitane. lots of chrome and the paintwork gives it character. £85 is probably about right if a little steep. it's worth paying a bit extra sometimes if you really like the look of the frame though
-
• #13
^agreed. Wait and see what that claude goes for (was 12.50 when I posted it) and the Gitane will seem better value!
The Git has less rust, nicer cast dropouts, chromed stays/forks, and better paint. -

There are people asking bling-bling about shipping to Aus & the US for that CB!
Surely not? -
• #15
allrighty, i gave in and bought it. I did the old "if someone else bought it would i get really pissed off? if yes: buy it!"
and yes I would be. Really like the paint job and the chrome, and fuckit, riding fixie is all about looking kool anyway isnt it?
thanks for your help all, gimme a while to source parts and I´ll see you on the streets

Good call, dude.
£85 is nothing for a frame, particularly one that you like... Enjoy it!
Post on here if you're looking for parts, everyone has bits and bobs lying around that they don't need...
Good luck!

That's hippy told. Becarful now.
Hello all,
Need some advice on a frame. Looking to build up my first fixie, so need a good frame to start with that won't cost me fuckloads.
Found this on the bay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=310012303742&_trksid=p3984.cWAT.m240.lVI
Think it would make a good build? Is it worth the money etc?
Think it'll need a new BB, anyone know if it's hard to find / super expensive for this frame? On that note, does anyone happen to know if it's french or english thread?
It's mr Freshtripe that sells it, he seems to know what he's doing so just want double check with you lot before I dosh up. Oh, hope you don't mind this freshtripe :)
thanks in advance ya'll
