  • i wonder if i'll have a hangover or if i'll be up with the larks and there before the notorious JD :-)

    thanks for the alert.

Hahahahaha! Our very own hilary will be in there securing deals before we even see daylight!

  • Actually, she's just now baking ginger bread.

However, she does do requests and her chocolate brownies are a delight.

I ll see if I can bring anything over on the 1st ...

Can i have a piece or two of the brownie please?

  • If I have gone to bed and not at risk of being up from the night before and buying something stupid!

  • Ill see what can be done

She's doing PHd work . yes there is no end to her talents, this week and may not have time.

has she got a sister? just asking like.

    sorry if i missed something.

  • Don't forget, Herne hill isn't just selling any old frames, but proper old steel track frames! As reported here http://www.hernehillvelodrome.com/new-years-day-madison-cyclo-cross-and-jumble

  • proper old steel track frames

Doubt that you'll find anyone interested in those on here.

  • did somebody say old steel,, mmm

@jc & rpm is there going to be some kind of *cap *on the amount of genuine herne hill old steel that can be purchased before the gates open at 10am - if people/cyclists are all rushing down there and standing in line in the rain and cold only to find that everything has been bought by all the stall holders then we may as well stay in bed nursing hangovers and wait for the stuff to arrive on the bay, no?

    .

So far as I'm concerned, we won't be getting the stuff out until 1000, I may also suggest a cap on frames. ie: not to let a jumbler take the whole lot only to sell them all on at a profit. The stuff is being sold to help pay for the new fuji stadium bikes, and although we want to get rid of it all, we would rather it was bought and used personally instead of being a vehicle for an individual's profit.

Having said that, we'll be selling them at the same price to whoever, so the jumblers may not leap on them immediately. We won't be devaluing the jumblers' stock by selling ridiculously cheap just to get rid, yes there is some stuff which will end up being given away gratis, but we sold complete bikes for £120-£150 and frames for £75-80 each last time we opened the container so that will likely be the price for the stuff in good nick.

  • There is one complete bike still, one of the blue ones. 58cm.

  • cheers for that.

  • @rpm - sounds good, i'll make an effort now

  • Marlon,
    I'm after some drops...

    Silver
    Slick
    and
    Sexy

    Just putting it out there.

  • :( Not a cat in hells chance of me getting there for this

  • @ shoots - you sure you after drops???

what size should you sexy silver thing be?

  • I can't get there, either, but the chances of getting a frame in my size are remote at best, anyway.

  • I used a few of the hire bikes that are being sold and they were my size, are you much taller than me? 185cm?

I'm 6'2" with a 36" inseam. A 60+cm frame can usually be made to fit me, but frames below that don't really. From memory, your legs are shorter than mine.

  • You are right, I use a 58cm frame.

  • What time does it all stop today? It's 1.30pm now and I'm tempted to go. Can I actually be bothered though?

  • Twas still going @1pm if that's an help, but most bargains had been had by 9am...Check Hilary's posts in the coming days...

  • hahaha.

Yeah I can't be arsed anyway. Going to see the Parade instead. Too heavy a night last night to get up this morning. 31/12 isn't just NYE for me. Its also my GF's bday and our anniversary.

  • Gerald, I cycled there with cake for you !

JD can tell you how good it was.
