It seems the velodrome is for pro use only.
Rik. I'm definitely up for trying bike polo - when do you move out?
JV. I got a job out there (pending signing contract), I'm a software developer.
hi, to use the velodrome you need what is called a "c-lizenz" which you normally only have if you are a amateur/pro cyclist. but you can try and get one through joining a cycling club ("verein").

is it worth getting this ?http://www.bvg.de/index.php/en/17179/name/Berlin+WelcomeCard.html
not really, as long as you do not plan to visit all those museums, a normal day ticket is cheaper and more flexible.

You'll be lucky if the Germans let you, Rik--as soon as they find out that you know English, they'll try to speak English to you. You'll have to be extremely persistent if you want to get any practice in! :)

@Rik: Good luck with your move - I won't be out there until Sept. Are you doing an intensive German course, or just trying to immerse yourself? Would love to check out the polo champs if I'm there in August.
@mr_tom: sounds like my new company is just round the corner from you, they're currently on Chausseestrasse, although apparently they will be in a new office though when I get there. I'm also a huge Kraftwerk fan!
Sounds like there may be enough forumengers in Berlin for an LFGSS Berlin drinks meet up.
