Ouch ^
Are you going to dress all in black too? Very Berlin.
Are you enjoying the sub-sub-zero temperatures? Very envious you get to live there at the moment.
Have you been to the Stasimuseum in Lichtenberg yet? If not do it. The cafe is surreal to the max.
I was in Mama bar in Neukölln the other weekend and it was good. Yes.

Well, every day I think about about starting a thread "Am I a wuss for not wanting to cycle to work in -15°C?" Actually, I did take the train twice this week.
It is fucking freeeezing here atm. And just started snowing. Again. Sigh.

hmm. didn't realise it'd be so much colder than here. if still is from feb 7th to 14th, then i won't need the bike!

It's all about the continental climate, innit. So, don't hold your breath.

Sadly I don't enjoy cycling so much below about -6, so I don't know how I'd cope.
On the plus side, have you been out on a lake yet?
This is a picture I took on the Großer Müggelsee a few years back when it was frozen solid:
Don't go out unless the locals are. Would be fun on a suitable bike though.

i'm not sure if this site has been mentioned but i found it pretty handy before i went/when i lived in berlin. my german is fairly shite so it was handy having some advice that didn't need a google translate session.

also, i found that berghain gets old pretty quickly. try tape club, golden gate and the like for a bit of variety.

You should be prepared for -10 degrees in the night and -5...-7 degrees during day time next week. But not much new snow. The roads are ok for cycling at the moment, at least from a courier's point of view.

I'm (hopefully, if all goes to plan) coming to Berlin from the 4th of next month for about 10 days, would anyone be able to help me get hold of a fixed beater for a day or so to have a buzz round the city (sights, shopping, etc) on? I've asked my ex (it's a long and slightly complicated story) if she could sort one out for me, but tbqh I don't think she'd know a fixie from any type of bicycle.
Danke!

Hi,
is your old Raleigh still for sale? And if so, would it be possible to have a direct look at it somewhere?
Greetings from Berlin-Lankwitz

If anyones up by the U-Bahn Eberswalder Str. in Prenslauer berg I recommend the kebab house/restaurant el-rief, Is really cheap but has cosy seating and the people who run it are really friendly, do lovely platters with houmous and meat and salad etc.
Also, volkspark fredrichschain is a fun place when the weathers nice, one of the 'rubble mountain' parks made after ww2

I'm off this weekend staying here http://www.imalofts.com/ in Kreuzberg.
Usually stay here, it's fairly cheap if a group of you are going and they've got a courtyard with bike racks and hire bikes.
I'm sure they'd let you take bikes in the rooms if you asked, Dan who runs the places is very easy going.
Ok. these hippos hire out bikes do they?
