Van Damage I've got it under good authority that it is fine... what about any tips on reducing the future damage of rust, or preventing more... without getting it re sprayed?
i'd use use some clear waxoyl (from car shops - halfords etc) inside the frame and clear coat the outside with a couple of coats of laquer and it'll stop it getting worse but still look hard as nails. i've used this on cars and it's worked well. :-)

adoubletap Was thinking about starting a thread for a "Tool library" ; list what you got and where you are. Sticky maybe?
I've got things like a cable cutter and Campy BB tool that will get an airing once a year if they are lucky. Between all of us you could probably fit any part to any frame ever made in any postcode...
this is an absolutely brilliant idea. i'd be happy to share what limited tools i have, and it would solve the problem of having to buy a tool you know you are only ever likely to use once

Yep, I'm up for the tool exchange also.
Got a Shimano BB tool, headset/cone spanners etc.

As someone who has always been lazy and gotten someone else to do my bike for me, but who is also now someone who can get a biek on cyclescheme, I'm looking at using this opportunity to order a number of tools using the discount. As a starter, what shall I get? I can only think of the following thus far:
- Chain Whip
- Chain Tool
What else?
- Chain Whip

As someone who has always been lazy and gotten someone else to do stuff for me, and who is also so fecking lazy that I can't be arsed to use the search button above, nor have I heard of Google. Somehow I got a job so now someone who can get a bike on cyclescheme, I'm looking at using this opportunity to order a number of tools using the discount. As a starter, what shall I get? I can only think of the following thus far:
- Whip to beat some sense into me.
- I'm A Tool
What else will a tool like me need?
Fixed.
How many more fucking duplicate threads are you going to start you tool?

this site is good you just type in what tools you got and they source all the other tools you'd need at the best prices available on the net and in uk shops. they can even make the search based on shops closest to you. best things is it's free to use.

You could get some sealing wax, melt it, and pour it down the inside of the tubes of the frame. This will seal the inside of the tubes against more rust damage. Not sure if you need a special type of wax, but you can get microcrystalline stuff fairly cheap from any art materials shop.
