Have you ridden this? Any good? More suitable on a cross bike I expect? Considering it across a few days next weekend.

Also, £5 return to Hassocks with a railcard, then you're in the hills.
I rode this yesterday:

An amalgamation of the three routes in STW. Good mix of South Downs bridleway bashing to get the mileage done then singletrack down off the side of the ridge.

I'm thinking about doing some of the Beastway races, partly just to get some experience of MTB racing. Anyone done any? How are they?
How newb friendly are the courses? I can handle myself but I don't want to be doing anything 'big'. -

Very friendly. Nothing big. I rode a few on a cross bike with big tyres last year, I wasn't competitive but everything was rideable.

How are they?
Too far away from me to ever make any of them :(
-

They're pretty good. Wide range of abilities, competitive, fun etc. Make sure you can handle getting lapped by a 13year old.
Although not technical the surface can be bumpy enough in a dried mud ruts way that a full suss is an advantage in getting power down. -

Propriety shock though.. and 71Degrees? Oh i'm in such a quandary, I like my Yeti hardtail and don't really want to break it down for parts, but would have to and also sell the Santa Cruz to buy a new frame.
I only need a Frame though. I have some 2015 F32s (lightly chopped steerer) which have been warrantied recently by Mojo and are running sweet. XTR (985) running gear, Mavic ST' wheels and some Hope X2 Race brakes. So everything to build up a reasonably light XC bike.

71Degrees?
When did 71 degree head angles become problematic on an XC bike?
-
• #9910
Even my 2011 Big Top is 70 Degrees...!
It's not a problem really. I just like the idea of being cool and with the times.

Hmm...
Hmm. Pic won't upload. Just imagine an alpine hut with a gravel track beside it, green meadows and snowy peaks in the background and a nice blue sky.
