If the fork came stock on the bike it's attached to, that could help age it.
Other possible is a replaced CSU* that's marked for U-turn on a solo air.

I know at least 10 times as much about Rockshox forks than I did a few hours ago. Agreed a good price with the guy for the whole bike so almost looking forward to pulling it apart now; would be great if there's a coil spring in there but guess I can put one in at a later date if I don't like air
