I have a Hope headset in my Rocket. I'm quite happy with it. If that helps? It's a good bit of kit. No problems with it so far.

My hope BB has been very good fwiw

sounds lovely, what fork?
New Pike methinks.
BB will most likely be Hope too.

Happy with hope headset on the commuto x bike.
When they make a layback seatpost I may get full hope finishing kit for that bike (currently bb, headset and hubs all from 'Ope)

I've some nice Hope Mono Mini brakes, they've just been replaced by a set of fancy Dan Shimano Zee on the big bike, should I swap them onto the Flow (replacing it's Avids) or sell them on?
-
• #5035
Swop then sell the avids

It's fortunate I have such and awesome and understanding wife.

And at least you didn't get one of those awful 29er things.

Awful, awful things.

Thankfully, nobody can tell that I'm riding one.
At least, not from a distance.

So after many years away from MTB I bought an Inbred. It's great fun, but after 2 proper rides I'm fed up with gears and want to go ss, Everytime I changed gear I lost monetum, or timed it wrong. I have been riding fixed for years on the road and tend to just push harder on climbs, should I give it more time geared or change the frame already? The fit etc is spot on so a swap to a more adaptable Inbred would be the favarable route. It's a 26er, as that is all there was when I used to ride MTB.

why not just stop changing gear like a buffoon? Give it some time to get used to, don't write off gears based on a couple of abortive rides.
-

This ^
I ride ss because I was given a ss back wheel and an eccentric bb. No other reason. It does make you htfu but I can go faster with gears.

Is anyone riding coedy Enduro this weekend?
-
• #5044
Did you not get the swapout inbred? You could try both quite easily if so. If not then just don't change gear.

No, got a second hand rig, good deal and hadden't really thought about ss so much. I guess a bit more time in the saddle and better reading of the upcoming terain would help.
I can honestly say for a return to MTB Afan was alot of fun, but I did feel a bit out of my depth a couple of times, but made it to the other side. I don't have the carefree approch of a 15 year old anymore. Defenitly know how much it might hurt!

Anyone up for an evening ride at Swinley tomorrow?
Am going with the other half. Proper lights are fairly essential.

Bit drastic. If you like the frame, but want SS, just pop one of these on.
-
• #5048
How about just not changing gear?
-
• #5049
Or, just learn to gear
- Bro, do you even shift?*
