I think I jinxed myself. Was planning going Bike Show on Friday. I don't want to get stuck in London if trains grind to a halt though. CSB etc.
I really don't like being clipped in when riding snow though. Scares me when the rear starts sliding out.

Hello looking for a little advice thinking of getting a on one 456
http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/FROO4561/on_one_456_evo_frame
on sale at the mo - im wanting mtb all rounder, with a bit of attitude anyone got on of these and give me there opinion -
• #3983
That pretty much describes a 456 perfectly. Set of 120mm forks and you've got a bike that's capable of almost anything
Edit - that's the 456 evo you've got there, which a more evolved version, slacker HA and steeper SA, similar to my blue pig. I love that kind of geo, but it can be a bit marmite so you might want to have a test ride if possible?
-
• #3984
how do you find all day rides and climbing with that set up? just had a look at the blue pig - very nice looking bike.
-
• #3985
They climb quite well (unless you ss them...), and if you get the right size all dayers shouldn't be a problem. Mine's a size too small for me, but descends like a beast. That said, I just about managed 30 miles with 4500ft in the Surrey Hills on it, without too much pushing.
The same guy designed both bikes, and the evo does seem a genuine progression, it's got a few differences I'd like on my frame (lower BB, iscg mounts)

The 456 Evo looks like a great frame and Brant Richards has designed some very popular UK hardtails.
Get the best suspension fork you can afford to make the most of it though. Something like umop3pisdn runs on his blue pig ( a Rockshox Pike if I remember correctly )
I think something like the Sektor would be just right if you can find a good deal.

• #3989
Sektors would suit it perfectly, they're basically a 500g lighter Pike.

I would love a 456 evo but the 16" in raw has sold out and only the 14" blue is discounted at the minute
someone is selling a green one on here for about £120
-
• #3991
saw the green one - but quite fancy getting a new bike and building up from scratch - been reading up MBUK mag has a write up on budget Bikes also looking through Pauls Cycles some massive bargains to be had.

My 456, It's a great all day bike, likes the steep stuff both up and down.
If I replace it, it will be with the evo. -

I'm toying with the idea of bringing my SS MTB down to London. I live East. How often do you lot get out to Epping Forest or anything else out East way?

Hopefully after May, a few more of the forum members will be better acquainted with the trails around Epping Forest.
