  • I am now at the point where I'd like to ride more technical stuff/fall off, feels like the rigid bike is good to learn curves and stuff. Will probably just rent a full sus from time to time if I am near something good.

  • If it suits your needs, have at it. Doesn't mean someone else won't think your perfect bike is fugly. :) I think DH bikes are ridiculous - just get a motocross bike so you don't need a chairlift. But obvs everyone rides different stuff and likes different stuff. Just like my bikes get ridiculed (I've owned a PX Zebdi ffs), everything is fair game on the internet and that's all part of the fun. :)

  • I’m almost definitely going to be selling a Stooge mk5 soon

Give me a shout when you do.

  • PX Zebdi

Wow, I'd forgotten about those. You couldn't move for them for about 2 years, and then they all disappeared, presumably wrapped around trees or with headtubes torn off from hucking stairs to flat

  • Oh hang on, I'm thinking of the Jack Flash. One guy I knew had a Zebdi and he got so much shit for it though

  • The Linkglide upgrade kit arrived.

Should really keep it and the Yari fork wrapped up in their boxes until the weather improves and put the bike back together at that point but I don’t how long I can hold off.

  • I've got some cues 11s linkglide stuff to set up for my neighbour on a retro Cannondale MTB so I won't need your horribly uninformed opinion after all.

  • That’ll be a nice build. There’s a guy on Insta with a Cannondale ‘winter bike’ with a Spinergy front wheel thatI keep seeing that’s pretty rad.

  • That’ll be a nice build

    We'll see about that.

  • I googled the Zebdi being an arriviste in the world of baggy pajamas and camelbaks..

  • Mine was second hand (coz that's how I roll) and then sold on before I got good enough at trials to break it :) I can't remember who/where it went. Someone in Melbourne I guess.

No idea what the Jack Flash is. I do remember being at SSWC 2003 and you couldn't move for white Inbreds. They all got stacked in one massive pile before the start while we did breakfast tequila shots. I definitely beat Cadel Evans that day.

  • Yeah, I had that version. I couldn't backhop for shit though and eventually lost interest. If I'd started 10 years earlier maybe..

  • No idea what the Jack Flash is.

It was the dirt jump frame, which came with spare welds in case your mates needed one

  • Haha wow yeah I probably saw it and skimmed right past it. I was into DJing with records not dirt. :)

  • Has anyone seen a Cannondale Slate in full Lefty spec for sale anywhere? For someone 187cm tall.

  • Found one.

  • The guy with a rack on it who is smashing everywhere like he's going for a stage win? Very rad

  • Aye that’s him haha.

  • Standing in the line for the gondola behind Jess Blewitt does indicate how outclassed I am going to be riding here. By everyone.

  • Soon

  • I still feel like your levers are angled too far down, having them flatter lets your palm support your weight rather than your thumb. I moved mine from a similar position to yours, to nearly flat and it made a world of difference

EDIT: I've realised they may be like this for bike bag reasons, ignore me if so

  • I’ll get a photo of the bike built up, before I throw it through the scenery.

Raining today (well, this morning) which is hopefully doing the trails some good - and I did bring a jacket. Not sure how cold it’s going to be but I can always come back to put more clothes on.

Not going to lie - super nervous, going to be dropping in to the first trail on a bike I have never ridden off-road, and the extent of the riding I have done has been up and down in front of the hotel to check if anything obvious was going to fall off.

  • Ok, it’s pissing down. I’m drinking coffee instead.

This is a long black in Queenstown, which is shorter than I expected.
