I tested the new Goretex Adidas Trailcross today- they’re great, do exactly what you want from (AFAIK) the only waterproof flat pedal MTB shoe.

James- try flats, get the Sam Hill/Nukeproof pedals and I’ll buy them off you if you hate them.

DMR Vaults with 5Ten soles was almost too grippy, if that can be a thing. If you jumped on at the top of a hectic descent and your foot wasn't on quite right, it was very hard to sort that out.

Crank Brothers Stamp 7 at the moment. Great but they need serviced and I couldn't find a service kit in stock anywhere.

Enduro or downhill pedals? The lightweight or standard ones?

The downhill ones - I have them on my jump bike and they're excellent. I've got DMR vaults on the 529/295 but after speaking to their customer service person I'd rather lash my bare feet to the pedal spindles with barbed wire rather than recommend them. I'll use them until they're beyond servicing and then bin them.

Did mine a while ago and keeping an eye on how this progresses and talking to non cyclists about this as well. Lots of similar developments could be on the cards if this passes. Important for everyone who cares to get on this 🙏

I have Hope flats for playing about on in the park, otherwise clips every time.

Specialized 2FO and Shimano AM range have their cleat slots further back than their respective XC shoes.

I have rediscovered a pair of superstar nano pedals in my parts bin. Might give them a whirl.

Luckily https://www.essentialwraps.co.uk/ are 5 minutes from FOD trail centre so hope to take the bike for a spin and then drop it off to be wrapped. The mechanics at pedalbikeaway no longer do invisiframe and rate essential wraps product better.

A little bit of jewellers rouge and elbow grease has managed to reduce the rear triangle pedal rub markings.
