^ Nice.
New bike day for me today. Got out early for some Ranmore / Juniper Hill loops. Smiles for miles.

Went out to Peaslake today - loved it. However I definitely feel my HT isn't adequate, despite being a great bike. Going to look at full suspension options - anyone have recommendations for the best places to buy from? Will look to go down the finance route - who offers the best deals?

IMO the best place to buy in terms of bang for buck is online, especially Canyon or YT.
Both offer great bikes at great prices with top notch kit.
I'm sure others will have alternative opinions

went out to test the new shock. Found lots of singletrack although one of the only shots my son has shared so far is a bit more urban.
Shock performed well

Supply is going to be an issue in the short to medium term if you want something to ride soon.
The second hand market is like the wild west at the moment, but if you're not too fussy there are loads of Enduro style things on pink bike / eBay for not silly money. You take your chances a little, but i just picked up the Cotic above and it's in A1 condition.
I half wanted a short travel 29er (Transition Smuggler was top of my list) but they are harder to come by at the right price and willing to post. The Cotic is lovely though and suits my bikepacking needs better.
If they are willing to do PayPal you may be able to use their credit option on there.

Went to the olympic park today. It was pleasantly empty.

Nice. This might as well become the Cotic thread now as I'm sure we're beyond 50%
Those tyres look like they'd grip anything!

Did you take this whilst doing a dump on the trail?
-
• #20338
This was on the black where I shat my pants.

Yep, not short of grip, but it's like velcro going up hill. What's forum standard fastish/lightish Surrey hills tyres of choice? Hans Damph front/ Magic Mary rear?
-
• #20340
Mary front, Smart Sam back for me. Although be aware the 2.25" SS seems to have heaps more bite and nobbliness than the 2.1", which I stupidly downsized to, to improve clearance.

Just had confirmation this is definitely going ahead
3.1k trail run 16k xc bike 3.1k trail run
Checkendon is flat and fast so should be fun. Relay option if you don't like to run but this one is more bike than run.

Black at the Olympic park = Perfect right angled corners, followed by rock gardens that you're then going too slow to coast over, or power climbs followed by a drop you're going to slow to drop down with both wheels in the air at the same time.

Must be designed by the same genius that built the new sections at Thetford

Can anyone recognise these rims? They're potentially going cheap on a local auction site but I don't want to buy duds. So far they're worth it for the tyres and cassette only though...
-
• #20347
Don't buy cheap used MTB stuff - it's invariably fucked and / or some weird standard that nobody wants
-
• #20348
That's what I'm worried about. These look like standard QR wheels though so was hoping they could work for lighter gravel duty on my pickenflick

I’m in Devon on work end of April, hoping to ride across exmoor and dartmoor over two days and can offer accommodation to someone at the start if anyone is up for this?
