Hey man, that upgrade ABS+ says only good up to 2013 forks. What makes you think it would fit the Markour?

Hey,
So I'm not 100%, but 90% sure. I think it will work because although decathlon only lists compatibility with pre 2013 R7 forks, I think this is just because those are the forks that come/came on bikes they sell and that all the dampers that work for the (older, pre 2018) R7s also work for the Markour.
If you look at other places in which the damper is listed it lists compatibility with R7s and Markours, e.g. here:
https://www.shockcraft.co.nz/r7-abs-damper-kit-manitou.html
Which is definitely the damper needed for the Markour (the product number is the same as the one in the Markour manual: https://support.decathlon.be/sites/decathlonsav/files/markhor-service-guide.pdf )
Also, if you look at the manuals for an R7 from the period that Decalthon list compatibility, you will see that the part number for the ABS damper compatible with them is the same as the part number for the ABSs that fit the Markour:
https://www.yumpu.com/en/document/read/34279076/2010-fork-service-manualpdf-manitou (this is an R7 manual from 2010)
As I said I'm not 100% sure. But I've ordered the fork from Rose and the damper upgrade and will return the latter if it doesn't work (decathlon have 1 year returns). I'll report back, but it is going to take a while for it all to get to me. Rose say 5 weeks on the fork and the damper will be going to London before being sent on to me (in Oslo) later.

Ok man, thanks so much for your reply, I appreciate it.
I've got the fork coming and thinking about grabbing the upgrade kit too.

No worries. I'll let you know if it works when I finally get it all, but it might take a while. Good luck

I've had braking issues with my circa 2006 steel hardtail and it's circa 2001 Hope M4 brakes.
Despite bleeding them a number of times and replacing the pads I couldn't fix it.I had another set of disc brakes in the garage as like 99% of owners I had replaced the SRAM Guides that came on my 2016 YT Capra with Shimano.
I just needed to get around to ordering a set of the weird MMX clamps that SRAM use as the existing ones had to stay on the Capra as they also secure the seat post remote control on the left and the rear mech on the right.
They arrived yesterday and a productive hour or two was spent swapping them over.
Fortunately I already had some post mount adapters of the correct size in my spares box
Job done and brakes now working as required

With winter here I thought I would remove the commuter mudguards and slicks from my Big Bro and put the tyres it came with on (2.4 trail king on the front, X king on the back) so I could continue riding the "gravel" bridleways &TC which I assume will be turning to mud soon.
However these tyres seemed really slow and didn't seem that great at clearing mud (see pic taken after agonisingly slow road section) though they did provide reasonable levels of grip on the up hill peanut butter.
I'm sure I'm missing something here, I've never ridden an MTB tyre with tread. Are tyres like this purely designed for up hill down hill type "trails" which are basically well drained? I'm more looking for something for East Anglia bridleways in winter, with the road segments there and back.

2.4” trail tyres are going to be weighty - I’d look for something more XC oriented in a narrower width. Will be more fun and might cut through that mud a bit better.

That looks like pretty claggy mud - the only thing that will help with that is more spaced out knobs and riding faster so it spins off.

Maybe 2.2 racing Ralph/ray would be good compromise?
It was so dry out there aside from this one mud hill I may as well have been on slicks

I replaced my bontrager XR2 which resemble Racing Ralph with Nobby Nic front and Rocket ron rear for winter. I think changing tyres for the season is the sensible thing to do.

changing
tyresbikes for the season is the sensible thing to do -

How are they on the road/drained gravel though? Nobby Nick looks more like the trail king I'm switching out from.

They felt fine even on tarmac, i didnt even feel I was slower with them compared to the XC tyres I had.

My Cotic Bfe Max was meant to be here 2nd week Dec.
Now unlikely to see it before mid February.😞

Was it the Nukeproof pedals you were recommending recently?
-
• #18648
Who me?
I think they’re great pedals, Nice and slim platform and incredible grip.
Not had to replace the bearings yet but I guess that’s testament in itself as they’re approaching 2 years of Welsh weather

I just bought some, hopefully I have as positive an experience.

I've got some Nukeproof Horizons, they're great.
I ordered some Minion SS, will see how they go.
