Fine, chuck a 140mm fork on an XC bike, see how you get on ;)

Finally managed @MTB-Idle's route to Brighton. Few sections were well over my capability on the gravel bike.
Really good fun.
Side wall tear 11km out from Brighton was less great.
Swim was 10/10.
Too many people in Brighton though. -

I normally ride Cwmcarn on my 29er hardtail as quick get fit loops so normal stick to the Twrch and Cafall with only a couple of off piste or random cut/built trails. Yesterday though I’d been wanting to get out on the Enduro bike and through myself down something. Pedalled you’re the to and up to the Y Mynydd DH trail. Not ridden it before but plenty of folk had told me there’s nothing that not rollable and no kickers to big gaps.
Had a whole load of fun but wish I had someone to follow for speed/line choice as was too heavy on the brakes at times which only made things harder than if I’d carried speed and did have a couple of nervy moments.
Anyway, will definitely have a blast again and will definitely look to book with Cwmdown for uplifts when they restart.

Anyone for slackers Swinley tomorrow then?

What is the y mynydd track like? Been eyeing it and pedalhounds up for a while, but bravery and availability have never quite aligned. Not helped by being advised by the bloke in the shop that 'you can properly break yourself on y mynydd'.

On a related note, does anyone fancy doing an uplift day at BPW or FOD before winter descends again?

Looks great!
Tyre logos not matched up with valves but that's just nitpicking -

I have a days coaching tomorrow in Puddletown Forest, if you can make it there you’d be welcome.

Those tyres are only on there so they could ride it round the car park, they’ll be coming straight off and going onto some SC Reserve 30’s, I shall ask them to line things up then.

I'd die if I went to Swinley tomorrow. The heat got to me a bit today 😅

Well it is a DH track so a couple of sections caught me off guard; one very steep and very rocky berm and a section of 3 rock slab drops (only as I decided I could take it rather than the chicken run and I didn’t have the speed).
But there isn’t really anything that you can’t roll or use a chicken run other than the drop after crossing the fire road which you’d just have to launch but it’s not that big a drop and the landing is large and nicely sloped. However that’s where I stopped as I didn’t want to hit the big jumps in the run in to the end as I didn’t have a full face on and wanted to see how quick I could ride the bottom section of Twrch on a full sus. -

Where will you be coming from?
I’ll be up for a day there but only after they’ve gone back to full day uplifts. They’re wanting to revert back in Mid Sept* rather that half days for the same price.
*this is probably COVID reliant so may well change.

Dusty AF in the Surrey hills today and super quiet for a Sunday. Perfect summer ride.

A bit far for me, cheers though. Who's the coaching with?

Ben Deakin.

Will be coming from Bristol (why?). And yeah, agree on the full day thing. Fifty quid for a morning's a bit steep.

Just wondering as I’m pretty close to the park.
Just over the bridge in Newport.I might well go for a day in the week at one point this month (availability depending) but book it last minute and if you were close enough I could just message you and see if you were able to make it to.

Today was fun, jumping doubles was something I’d never done before so it was good to do that, and a lot more technique stuff.

Worth a visit?
This. My Transition Scout was designed to be 140 front and 125 rear. Was the most fun bike I've ever owned. Could whack the fork up to 160 for the Alps too and it was still very good. Forks more important than rear end IMHO
