A hammock seat must be worth at least another 50mm of suspension

There's a few things to note.
It's far from grippy on the tight corners, so watch your front wheel.
It's more technical than fun & you'll need trials skills to ride the whole thing.
For manmade trails there are a few strategically placed trees.
Don't lose your footing on the 12" wide descents.
Do ride the off piste climb and descent by the tunnel.
Be mindful that the decking bridge is a deathtrap when wet.
Hopefully the bike wash is available. -

although I could imagine binning it there could be quite sudden and painful.
Can confirm - the sharp pointy rocks along the sides hurt. Bent a set of fox 32s here too... Mojo warrantied them though. Nice of them!
In other news bought these for £145 brand new on eBay tonight. Now only the wheels and cassette remain of the stock Kona Hei Hei DL i picked up last April... Oops.

thanks for the heads up. sounds like some bits might be a bit too gnarly for my 80s muddy fox and don't fancy putting myself in hospital at the moment!

Recently bought a MTB helmet in preparation for actually going cycling again for the first time in ages.
It's got a peak. I've always wear a cycle cap when I ride but this looks odd with the peaked helmet. -

I just wear a road helmet as I'm not very extreme. MTB helmets are always a bit gnarmaxrad.
-
• #16311
Yeah, this is what I'm thinking.
TBH I'm going to be riding so slow probs be ok without a helmet -
• #16312
Can confirm that road helmets offer protection from pointy rocks and inconsiderate trees. You'll always risk your teeth/nose, but only a full facer really addresses that.

In all honesty is's more suited to unmodern geometry as some of the corners are too tight for a long bike... The trails are marked blue/red/black. If you can ride a bike you can ride the blue.
They're not gnarly they're just technical in places.

Uff, wouldn't mind a pair of those, maybe I can strip and polish my XTs?

went for a solo MTB on some local trails today. Rode my 160mm full suss YT Capra but could have just as easily used a gravel bike ('cept I don't have one)

Be prepared for weekly polish session and stockpile on mothers unless you plan to anodise them afterwards. Bloody hard to keep them shiny.

• #16318
I've got a drill, a mop and some polish. My crush didn't stay all that shiny for all that long, maybe that's what I could do this weekend? some polishing!
I actually went over my Cotic with some furniture polish the other day, made cleaning it a doddle after yesterdays muddy ride.

Or you could sell the XTs and buy these:
https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shimano-xtr-m9020-11sp-mtb-chainset/rp-prod193978Shiny shiny.. and the same price I paid for mine on 'bay - though I was specifically after the 34t version as didn't want to spend £99 on a chainring!!

Cartridge bearings in the hubs. World will really end in 2020.
