70.5° head angle and a 560mm toptube, even on the large? No thanks.

• #13229
That’s weird. If you wanted an RS Revelation for £400 minus whatever you could move the frame on for you could do worse
I guess. -

Needs black cable ties
I can sell you some ;-)

Frame and fork have disc mounts and you’re using V brakes.
Y tho -

Budget constraints. Will disc it when I can afford disc wheels, brakes, etc. I initially built this from the parts from the Marin that broke, so it was all Deore XT. Brakes are parallax or whatever.

What's going on the the bottom bracket area on that bike?

What do you mean?

The little stumpy bit may have been for mounting a chain catcher or even a front mech, in lieu of a conventionally positioned seat tube
Narrow wide rings hadn't been invented when this beast rolled off the line.

Ohhhh that. Yep. The chode is for a front mech. Maybe not visible but directly vertical is a cable boss on the seatstay, and in the few photos I found of one built up, the cable runs bare between that boss and the front mech. Did not want.

Anyone got a cheap brakeset lying around for general mediocre trail riding?
-
• #13244

I want a pair of MTB shoes for my ultra racing - I'm sick of having to clean dirt and stuff out of Speedplays and my lovely road shoes got fucked up on TCR CP4 last year. Any reason not to take a £300 pair of XC9s and immediately drill holes in them for midfoot? Any suggestions for other shoes that have reasonably wide and flat outer soles in the middle (ie. not SIDI or Bont)?

As a wide fit shoe person with foot pain, I've found Lake to be the most comfortable so far. I'm banking on them being good enough to stop me crying* at Mountain Mayhem.
*about my feet anyway

As for midfoot

I loved the thread on STW about midfoot. So much shock and awe ("must be trolling!") and I thought roadies were set in their ways.

Any particular model(s)?
Fuck they're even more spendy than the Shimano. I need a shop to try some of these brands on.
