It worked perfectly when I bought it from you as demonstrated so I’m in no way saying it’s you, not me
:) -
• #13078
Possibly but I will change your route :)
-
• #13079
Yeah yeah Norfolk Boy. You be sure to use your toes to count the 11 ways South is better then North London.

Why do you think I needed those wide fit shoes
-
• #13081
I recommended them to you....
High 6!

open to that, this is for people like me who gotta stare at a GPS to get their way round dorking countryside. there's only one downhill section near the start you gotta keep

Is that the descent into Abinger hammer? I've not done that route. Is it good?
I'd normally drop down earlier from the ridge to park farm, then along the valley, over white down lane and through the Abinger roughs before linking up with your route.
I'm thinking of doing something in the North Downs next weekend. I have the Saturday available (notionally for the hard day in Jan, but it's been so dry the woods are calling!)

Can I ask roughly how much it ended up costing you? I'm thinking of putting something together for my Dad.
-
• #13085
I dread to think. Not cheaper than buying one complete.
Approaching 900 quid I’d have thought. But then I’ve got carbon cranks, Hope wheels, dropper post etc -

There is? Looks like the climb up Ranmore road - unless you are going the wrong way round
-
• #13087
Hmm complete might be the way to go. He definitely doesn't need Hope wheels. Or a dropper. Or probably even sus forks. Genesis Tarn is looking like a good option.

Got linked to this with a message along the lines of, “you’ve been warned”...

km 7.6 to 9.0 :)
-
• #13091
it's a good route if like me you don't know lots of the little hidden paths and stuff etc
I think the descent from 7.6km to 9.0km is really great, so steep and fun.
sadly can't spare both days next weekend, have a good time. -

Sorry - you probably don't want loads of tips but I'll do it anyway -
I'd get off a stop earlier and head up the bridleway from Westhumble to Ranmore. It's quite a crank to the top, but lots nicer than the road. Can also grab a flapjack from the lovely pilgrim cycles at the station (opens at 10am).
-
• #13095
Yep I'll take them up this way don't worry.
The ride back to Westhumble from Dorking is only about ten mins anyway.
-
• #13096
Ha. Shame I can't make it too.
I'll wind my neck in on routing now. They're in safe hands!
-
• #13097
Yep, put me down as tentative.
-
• #13098
Yeah but I can get a Tarn through work and then I could 'borrow' it.

I’m really sorry. Really, really sorry...
